"These look perfect!", said Yang, looking at three pumpkins. Her seven year old daughter, Opal, ran up to her, looking at the pumpkins with excitement. "Are we gonna carve these, mommy?" "We sure are, Little Bee."
"Have you two started?", asked Blake, who joined her wife and daughter. "About time you made it. Now let's get started!"
As Yang and Blake picked their pumpkins, the blonde noticed her daughter trying to pick one up. "Here sweetie. Let me help." Opal watched her mother pick up the big fruit (yes pumpkins are fruit, bite me). "Hey, orange ya glad to have a strong mom?" "Really Yang? Shouldn't you be using that for when you actually have an orange?" "I'm talking about the color, not the fruit." Blake rolled her eyes playfully. The family walked back to their home with all the pumpkins they wanted to decorate their home for Halloween. Yang dropped put one of the pumpkins on table and took out a knife. She cut around the stem and removed it as if it was a lid. Blake came and scooped all the insides out, putting the orange contents in a bowel. Once the pumpkin was hollow, Yang took her knife to begin carving a face. Opal pulled on her pants, gaining her attention. "Can I make a face?" The blonde huntress chuckled and hoisted her daughter on the table. "So what face do you want to make?" "A jack-o-lantern face, mommy! Obviously!" The two wives shared a laugh. "But should it be a happy jack-o-lantern, or a sad jack-o-lantern?", asked Blake. "Or maybe a big scary jack-o-lantern!", joked Yang, roaring playfully and pretending to munch on her daughter's head, forcing a fit of laughter out of her.
Once they calmed down, Opal began to think. "A smiley face!" "One smiley face, coming right up." Yang put the knife in Opal's hand, then took her hand to guide her in the carving. The made a big arch for the mouth, a triangle for the nose and two ovals for the eyes. "Now all we have to do is put a lantern inside, and we will have a jack-o-lantern!"
Opal clapped her hands enthusiastically.
Blake took out a lantern and put it inside the pumpkin, closing the top."You want to put it outside, sweetheart?", asked Blake. "Yes mama!" The cat faunus walked with her daughter outside to place their jack-o-lantern on the porch. Once she finished with that, a car parked in front of the house. "Yang! Ruby and Weiss are here!" The two woman cane out of their car with their son. "Aunt Ruby!" Opal ran to the said woman and hugged her. "How is my favorite niece?" "She's our only niece", said Weiss. Her and Ruby's son, August, enthusiastically greeted his cousin.
"So you two ready to get costumes?" The two children cheered. They greeted Blake and Yang and drove off. Yang picked up another pumpkin. "Wanna help me make Opal her very own little pumpkin?"
Blake raised her eyebrow. "My dad did the same thing for me when I was a kid. I just wanna do the same for her." Blake smiled and kissed her wife on the cheek. "What are we gonna carve?". . .
Opal was dropped off at her house, holding a bag with he costume inside of it. Her mothers were standing on the porch. "Hey sweetie! We have something for you." They moved aside to show a jack-o-lantern with a bee carving. "Is it for me?", asked Opal. "Sure is, Little Bee."
The little girl ran to her parents to give them a love filled hug, which they gladly returned."Do you have a pumpkin mommy?" "Yep! Grandpa made it for me. It's right there", Yang said, pointing to a jack-o-lantern with a sun carving. "Does mama have a pumpkin?" Opal and Yang looked at Blake. "I don't think she does. Let's go make het one!" "Yay!"
The family of three walked back into the house, where Blake was stopped by her daughter.
"You can't see mama. It's a surprise." The female faunus raised her arms in surrender, going to the living room to sit on the couch. After she waited for a few minutes, the pumpkin was complete. "Look mama!" Blake looked at her gift, which was a carving of a cat. "A cat?" "I get a sun for obvious reasons, and Opal gets a bee because she's our little bee." Blake chuckled. "Okay. Let's get it outside." The three females placed their jack-o-lanterns together, smiling at the display while sharing a family embrace.
