"Amane", spoke Nene, sitting on the bed and looking down at her husband, who was sleeping deeply. "Amane", the young woman spoke again, this time tapping his shoulder. The young man's eyes slowly opened, and he looked up at his wife. "Morning", he said tiredly. "Aren't you gonna get up?" "Why? I'm still sleepy." "But I want to spend time with you! Today is a special day, after all!"
Amane raised an eyebrow. "What? Christmas?" "No!" "Okay, then Valentine's Day." "Amane!" "Wait, is it your birthday?" "That was last month!", exclaimed Nene. She crossed her arms and looked away. Amane smirked. Once again, he's managed to tease his wife and make her fall into his trap. He crawled towards her and kissed her cheek.
"Happy anniversary."
Nene's eyes widened. She turned to her husband and glared at him. "You're a jerk, you know that?" "And do you know that I'm the jerk you married?" Nene rolled her eyes and pecked her husband's lips. "Yeah. I know." The two lovers shared a laugh and then a deep, loving kiss. "Did you really think I'd forget about today?" Nene shrugged. "You think so little of me?", her husband said, acting hurt. "I'd never forget the day I married my beautiful wife!" Nene only laughed at her husband's behavior.
"So, is there a surprise you have in store for me?", asked Amane. "What makes you think that?", asked Nene. "Well, usually you enjoy snuggling with me in bed. The fact you don't want to do this on our anniversary is pretty suspicious."
Nene rolled her eyes. "Fine, you caught me. I have a pretty fun day planned for us." Amane rested his head on her lap. "Do tell." His wife tapped her finger on his nose. "It's a surprise." Amane gave a suggestive smile. "A surprise, you say? Last time you said that to me, you were wearing sexy lingerie and made me have my way with you." "Well, it's not that, sadly." Amane sighed in disappointment. "Then what is it?" "Come downstairs and find out."
Amane raised a brow. "You've intrigued me."
After getting dressed, the young man walked downstairs with his wife, seeing the table had been set up with a delicious breakfast consisting of pancakes. "Dig in!", said Nene. She and Amane took their seats and ate their breakfast. "Wait, are these chocolate chip?", asked Amane. He looked at his breakfast to see that it was in fact exactly what he thought. "Thought I'd spoil you", said his wife. He smiled at her. "Have I told you how much I love you?" Nene just smiled at her lover. "Lost count. Maybe you can help me start over?"
Amane smiled mischievously and walked over to his wife. "I love you", he said, kissing her. "I love you." A second kiss. "I love you." A third kiss. This continued three more times. "You know what, forget counting. Just say it again for me, please", said Nene. Amane kissed her deeply. "I love you." "Me too. Now finish your breakfast. I want us to go out today." Amane gave a small salute. "Yes ma'am." He went back to his seat and finished eating his meal. Nene just stared at him with love filled eyes.
. . .
"Amane!", laughed Nene, who was being carried princess style by her husband. "What? This was how I carried you on our honeymoon", said Amane, nuzzling his nose against Nene's. "And since today is the day celebrating our one year of marriage, why not reenact that?"
Nene giggled. "I'm not against it." Amane smiled and stretched his arm out. "Onward to our day out!" The couple dashed toward their car and hopped in. "So where to?", asked Amane. "Anywhere romantic, really", said Nene. "Then I know just the place." Amane started the engine of the car, and drove off with his wife. They drove for about three minutes before the came to their location.
"The park?", asked Nene. "Yes! No place is romantic like this! Peaceful picnics, walks around the pond..." Amane leaned in. "And it's also where I proposed to you, if I recall correctly." Nene thought back to that day.
A picnic on a serene night, staring up at the night sky while resting flat on the blanket, the same position Amane was in when he fished the small box out of his pocket. Nene turned her head, and saw the beautiful ring. After that, the rest was history.
The happy couple joined hands and exited their car together. "Such a shame we don't have any food for a picnic", sighed Amane. "That's fine. Maybe we could have that romantic walk around the pond you mentioned?" The young man raised his wife's hand to his mouth, placing a kiss on her knuckles.
"I would love that."
The two lovers swung their hands to and fro as they strolled together. "You know, that duck over there reminds me of you", Amane said as he pointed to the aforementioned duck in the water. "The white feathers with green tips. Kinda like your hair, isn't it?" Nene brushed her hand through her hair. "So I remind you of a duck?", she asked with a bit of sadness. Amane's eyes widened. "W-wait! That's not..."
Nene laughed. "Relax. I'm just teasing." Amane smirked. "I must be rubbing off on you, huh?" His wife kissed him on the cheek. "Yep. Makes me wonder what our kids would be like."
Amane froze. "U-um, kids?" Nene looked at her lover. "Sorry. Too soon?" "Well, yeah, but you don't have to feel bad about it. I mean, I'd love to have kids. It's just that we haven't been married long."
Nene nodded. "You're right. I'm sorry." Amane kissed her cheek. "Don't be. Let's say we wait a while, then we can try for kids, hm?" Nene smiled. "Yes! When should we try?" "How about... we wait another year. Seems like a good time, right?"
Nene nodded her head. "Great! Now I know what to give you for our next anniversary by then", said Amane. His wife giggled and kissed him on the lips. "Can't wait!"The two lovers shared another deep kiss, then looked into each other's eyes. "Happy anniversary, Nene Yugi." "Happy anniversary, Amane Yugi." They then continued their walk around the pond.
