Shouya moved away from his house with his bike, hopping on and started peddling. He embraced the breeze that blew through his face. He looked ahead, and saw someone on the sidewalk. Not wishing to hit them, Shouya halted his bike, but he did it so quick he fell over, rolling across the ground.
His eyes opened, and he saw who the figure was that he would've hit. It was his girlfriend, Shouko Nishimiya. He waved at her, and received one back.
He sat up, and felt Shouko sat beside him. She licked her thumb and rubbed it across a dirt stain on Shouya's face. "You alright?", she signed. "Yeah. If I hadn't stopped, I would've hit you", Shouya signed back.
The couple then continued to walk, with Shouya holding the bike by his side.
"I was heading to the store to look for a gift for Maria. It's her birthday tomorrow." Shouko smiled, and looked at the bicycle. "Something catching your eye?" The deaf girl pointed at the two wheeled vehicle.
"I've always wanted to ride one, but never got a chance", she signed. Shouya moved aside, presenting his bike to his lover. "Want to give it a try?" Shouko blushed. "I don't know how to." "Then I'll teach you."
Shouya gently positioned his girlfriend onto his bike and held onto the back. "Push your feet down on the pedals", he signed. Shouko did as he said and pedaled. Shouya then let go, watching as Shouko rode on his bike. She smiled widely for a second, before riding into a bush. Her boyfriend ran toward her, pushing some leaves aside and seeing her sprawled out in embarrassment.
He grabbed her hand and pulled her out. "Not bad. You were doing okay." Shouko scratched her cheek while blushing.
The couple joined hands and walked back to the store.
                              . . .
Shouya had just finished eating, and took his plate to the kitchen, putting it in the sink. He felt his phone vibrate in his pocket. It was a text message from Shouko.
                              Shouko: Could you come outside?
Shouya was confused by the request, but did granted it anyway. As he stepped out, he saw his lover standing before him. "What is it?" Shouko pointed at Shouya's bicycle. "I want to keep learning how to ride." Shouya could only chuckle at her determination, but also admire it as well. "Okay. First let me go get helmet and pads", he signed.
The young male went back into his house, and came out with the necessary requirements. "Alright. Put these on and then we can start."
Shouko put on the helmet and kneepads. Shouya helped her with the elbow pads. "Okay. Do the same as before. Push your feet down on the pedals." The girl nodded, and slowly pedaled. Just like before, Shouya held on to support his girlfriend.
Shouko looked back at him, signing for him to let go. He, albeit reluctantly, released the bike, watching the deaf girl driving again. She appeared to be driving towards a wall, before moving into a different direction. And wouldn't you know it, she was riding a bike, without so much as falling.
Shouya started laughing, proud of his girlfriend's achievement. Shouko drove over to him and stopped, running to her lover and hugging him.
The moment came to a halt when she bumped Shouya in the head with the helmet that was strapped to her head.
He laughed, and took the helmet off, flattening any hair that stood up because of it. Shouko leaned close and planted a sweet kiss on Shouya's lips. He smiled at her, and rested his head on her's. "That's my beautiful brave girl."
