Rudeus' leg hopped up and down as he waited anxiously. His wife, Roxy noticed his behavior and put a hand on his. "It's going to be okay, Rudy. Lilia is in there, remember? Sylphie will be fine." "I know that. She's stronger than she looks. I'm more worried about what will happen after this."
Rudeus' other wife, Eris, looked at him. "You mean when the baby is here?" "Yeah. I mean, I'm excited and all. I get to have a kid after all. But then I realize, I'm going to have a kid. As in a tiny living being is going to be in my life, one who I have to raise, and be an idol for. It's just so much pressure, and I..." Eris grabbed her husband by the collar of his shirt and kissed him deeply. This surprised him, as well as Roxy.
The redheaded woman moved away once her husband was calm. "Now that you're quiet, listen here. You talk as if you're in this alone, but you're not. In case you've forgotten, this isn't just your child, but also Sylphie's. She will help you, and so will we. Though not biological, this child is ours too. You got that?" Rudeus sighed, and smiled. "Thanks. I needed that." Eris and Roxy smiled, moving in to give their blonde lover gentle hug and kisses on the cheeks.
The three lovers' moment was interrupted by the scream of their other member. The door opened and Norn walked out. She looked at her brother and sisters-in-law with a smile. "You guys wanna come meet her?" The three of them stood up and walked into the room, seeing a certain half elf in the bed.
She looked completely worn out, but gave a smile at the small bundle she was cradling in her arms. She looked up to see her husband and fellow wives. Rudeus walked closer, seeing his child, his daughter, sleeping in his lover's arms. A few tears threatened to fall from his eyes, but he held them back. The small infant's libs wobbled, before she began crying.
On instinct, Rudeus ran to her aid, gently taking her into his arms. He shushed her, swaying her side to side until she calmed down. The infant's eyes opened, looking up at her father."H-hey there", said Rudeus. "I'm your dad. It's nice to meet you." Roxy and Eris walked closer, wanting to come see their stepdaughter. Eris' hands flew to her mouth as she gushed at the baby's cuteness. Roxy wiggled her finger in front of her face, until her tiny hands grabbed it. The three of them sat on the bed, giving their daughter back to Sylphie. Norn came in to see her brand new niece, getting the biggest smile imaginable.
"What are we going to name her?", asked Roxy. "I don't know", said Sylphie. "There are so many good names, that it's hard for me to choose one." "Can I name her?", asked Eris excitedly, like a child coming across a puppy. "Go ahead", said Rudeus. Eris made a soft squeal, then recomposed herself.
"I've always liked the name Lucy." The others thought on this. "Lucy... Greyrat. That actually sounds pretty good", said Rudeus. "I think it suits her", said Roxy. Sylphie looked down at her daughter. "It's a beautiful name."
The family of now five huddled together around their new member, smiling at her.
. . .
"I'll go put her to sleep. You get some rest, Sylphie. You've earned it", said Eris. Sylphie nodded, her energy drained from giving birth to fight back. Eris gave her a smile and walked off to the room where Lucy was.
Rudeus chuckled. "Bet you she just wants to spend more time with Lucy." Roxy giggled. "Can't say I blame her. She is very cute." The two of them shared a light laugh, then looked at Sylphie, who was peacefully asleep. Rudeus gently brushed his hand over her head. "Guess you want a baby now too, huh?", he asked. Roxy shook her head. "Not yet. Raising a child is hard work, and I don't wish to add more to that. So let's wait for a bit." Rudeus nodded.
His blue haired wife moved close to him, twirling her finger on his chest. "But know this, you're going to put a baby in me. Guaranteed." The confidence in his wife's voice made Rudeus gulp and nod.
Eris had returned, and climbed into bed with her family. The three of them snuggled closer to Sylphie, who smiled in her sleep. She's definitely earned a peaceful sleep.
