Wakana watched his girlfriend skim through her phone in a hurry, unlike him, who waited patiently. "Here!", Marin exclaimed, shoving the phone in her boyfriend's face. He looked at the image that was displayed on the screen, which were two anime characters. Knowing Marin, she was asking him for another costume.
"They're from this recent anime. Funny enough, they're not actually major characters, just background ones. But someone pointed out how fabulous they're dressed, so they became all the talk. They even appear in every episode, so it's hard not to talk about it."
Wakana was surprised. Normally Marin would want to dress up as a protagonist of an anime, manga, or game. But never the background character. He chuckled, and jokingly asked his girlfriend which one she wanted a costume of. "The girl, of course!", Marin laughed, knowing her lover was joking. "You're going to be dressed as the guy!" Wakana was confused. "What?" "Yeah! I can't go dressing as that girl without her boyfriend. It's like watching Spider-Man without him using his webs." Marin blushed. "Plus, I've always wanted to try wearing matching costumes."
Wakana couldn't help but smile at his girlfriend's bashfulness. "Okay. What do I need to wear." Marin practically squealed as she reached into her bag and took out the outfits that she wanted them to wear. "It's... flashy", said Wakana, unsure of how to feel about his outfit. "You'll get used to it once you wear it."
Marin took out her outfit. "But first help with mine." "What's there to do? It looks the same as the picture." "Look closer and you'll see." Wakana looked at the picture, then at his girlfriend's outfit. "Frills! The blouse has frills!" Marin smiled. Bless Wakana and his attention to detail. The young man took her hand. "You can count on me!" The blonde girl pecked his nose. "I have no doubt about that."
Wakana took the black blouse and made his way to the table. He took a needle and string and got to the work. Marin sat down, staring at her boyfriend's concentrated face which she always found attractive. "I need something for the sleeves." "What do you need?" "Just something to go through it. I don't want to accidentally sew the thing shut." Marin chuckled. She opened the drawer she was standing close to and took out a wooden hand.
It was something Wakana got a while back to help him with the measurements for sleeves.
"Thank you", said Wakana after Marin handed him the wooden hand. He slid it into the sleeve, and started the sewing. After finishing the other sleeve, the blouse was finally complete. "Here you go." Marin excitedly took the final piece of her outfit and started to put it on. Wakana looked away the moment she took off her shirt. He has seen her in her bikini, so that was nothing new, but still.
"And done!", said Marin. Wakana turned to look at her. As always, she looked absolutely beautiful. "Stop gawking! You need to get dressed! Quickly!" "Oh. Right."
Wakana grabbed his outfit and began to dress. He tried to hide himself as he was a little embarrassed to be undressing in front of his girlfriend, but she teasingly kept moving to a spot where she could see him better. Once he had finished dressing, the young man stood to display himself for his lover.
"The buttons need to be open", said Marin. She walked closer to her boyfriend and undid the shirt's upper buttons. The sight of his chest made her blush. She looked so cute that Wakana couldn't resist placing a kiss on her forehead. Marin gave him a smile, then returned a kiss to the lips. "Now we're ready."
. . .
Wakana and Marin walked into the book store, dressed in their outfits. Everyone looked at them, completely shocked that they were dressed as popular fictional characters. The couple made their way towards the aisle where the manga was, and Marin skimmed through them.
"This is the manga that anime was based on." Wakana turned through the pages, seeing in the panels the characters him and his girlfriend were dressed as. "They really are in every scene." "I know, right. It's amazing how background characters can become so popular." A young girl approached the couple, holding her phone out. "Hey, I was hoping I could get a picture? Sorry, it's just, you look like two characters in that manga, so..." "No problem! Come on Wakana! Let's pose!" "Oh, o-okay", said Wakana, moving closer to his girlfriend.
The two lovers stood beside each other, where Marin put her hand on her boyfriend's shoulder. "I'll smile and you stay expressionless. Just like the characters." Wakana nodded and made a blank expression while his girlfriend grinned. The young girl snapped a picture, and thanked the couple. "You want a picture with us?", asked Marin? The girl nodded and took a selfie with the two cosplayers.
She thanked them again and was off. Marin looked at her boyfriend and smiled at him. "How does it feel being the center of attention?" "It's... something to get used to", said Wakana, scratching his cheek. Marin giggled and turned around, spotting a manga that made her gasp. "Paperbag-kun is in love! I love this!" Wakana looked at the manga curiously. "It's about this guy who wears a paper bag over his head who is in love with this girl, and..." "I think I get the picture", chuckled Wakana.
(BTW, that's a real manga. I recommend it for people who are looking for something cute.)
"Strangely enough, I have a hoodie just like that." Marin turned to her boyfriend. "Maybe we can dress up as them next time! Can we? Please?" Seeing his lover happy made him smile. "Okay. We can. I just need a paper bag."
Marin smiled brightly and hugged her boyfriend, kissing him on the lips. He smiled at her and returned the hug. "Now what manga are we gonna buy?"
"These ones", said Marin, showing the ones she had picked up. Wakana smiled and nodded.
