How can two people be considered a couple? Well, there are many ways, actually, but the one of them is accepting each other's flaws. It is quite common for people to dislike their messy looks in the mornings, but you know you've found yourself a good lover when they are comfortable with all of your factors.
Maki has had experiences like that. When she first met Kaito, she was a little distant with him most of the time. But no matter how much she was cold to him, he kept coming back. After a while, they started dating, and have been for five years.
The alarm buzzed on the bedside table, being silenced from the slam of a hand. Maki sat up, rubbing her face with her hands. Her hair was comparable to that of lion's mane right now. Beside her, Kaito sat up as well, his usual spiky hair all over that place, much like his girlfriend. The couple looked at each other, finding their bedheads cute, as they always have. "Morning", Kaito said, pecking Maki's lips. "Morning", she said back. They both crawled out of bed together, setting off to prepare for the day.
First up, the bathroom. The place where all mornings start.
Both lovers stood in front of the mirror, taking their toothbrushes and sharing the one tube of toothpaste. In their opinions, it was a way to save money by using one tube of toothpaste. The fact that both of them had no problem in doing this just proves how comfortable they are around each other.
They made their way back into the bedroom, with Maki sitting on the bed and Kaito sitting behind her. She handed him her brush, which he used to straighten her hair. Once that was over and done with, Kaito walked over to the closet, tossing his girlfriend's clothes to her while he took out his own.
He resisted the urge to stare at her naked body and have his way with her, but couldn't. They had work, and had to get ready for it. After he put his clothes on, the young man grabbed a jar of gel and used it to straighten his hair into its signature style, while Maki took two scrunchies to toe her hair into pigtails. While she got dressed, Kaito made his way downstairs, going to make a delicious breakfast for themselves.
He opened the cabinet and took out some strawberries. He plucked out the stems and put them in the blender. Next he decided to prepare a cereal for himself. Maki came downstairs, seeing her boyfriend prepared the blender for her. She gave him a smile and decided to go finish what he started. She turned on the blender, then poured the smoothie into a glass. Next she took out a pop tart and put in the toaster.
Yes, she eats pop tarts. Strawberry flavored, actually. Kaito found it rather cute, but Maki didn't mind. She was comfortable in showing her cute side to her boyfriend.
. . .
Kaito and Maki joined hands and walked together to the bus stop. They could already see a bus driving down from the horizon.
"That's my ride", said Kaito. He looked at his girlfriend and gave her a kiss. "See you later. Love you." "Love you more", said Maki. They waved goodbye to each other as Kaito hopped on the bus, which drove off after a second or two. Once it was gone, Maki looked at the daycare across the street. The place where she worked. She took a deep breath, and walked across the road.
Though the day had just started, Maki was excited for the afternoon. Not because she would go home, but because she would go home and be with Kaito. She just loved him that much.
