Clockwork stood on the step ladder, reaching for the high part of the cupboard. "There you are, you sneaky bastard." She reached for a jar pf baby food, and stepped down. She walked back to the living room, where she was met with a strange sight.
Her husband, Ticci Toby, was walking around on his hands and legs, with two baby twin girls on his back.
"Toby, what are you doing?"
"I'm a horse!" Toby lifted himself up and made a neigh.

The two infants, Mona and Lisa, weren't theirs, by the way. They belonged to fellow married couple Helen the Bloody Painter and Judge Angels. They were out on a date night, their first one since the girls were born, to be exact. The twins were where they were now because the lovely Mr and Mrs Rogers offered to babysit them.

"Well, Mr Horse, it's time for those two to eat." Toby crawled over to the couch and stood up, making the twins on his back fall onto the cushions in laughter.
He picked them up and then placed them in their seats. Clockwork held out the baby food. "Oh. Thanks." Toby looked at his wife. "Babe, are you sure you don't want to feed them?" "I-I'm fine." The young man sighed. "Okay."
The tension between the couple wasn't so well. The previous night, Toby had brought up the suggestion that he and Clockwork could maybe have children. But Clockwork wasn't completely on board with the idea. In fact, she barely interacted with the two girls when they arrived.
"Oh, I need to take whiz. I'll be right back." Toby left the room to go to the bathroom. Clockwork watched as the twins wriggled. She knew how fussy they got when they didn't get their food. She took a deep breath. "Fine. I'll feed you two."
The young woman took the spoon and opened up the jar of baby food. She scooped up some of the contents and directed it at Mona's mouth. She enveloped the entire front of the spoon in her mouth, eating the food.

"You like that, huh?" Clockwork took another scoop. "Now your turn, Lisa." She tried to feed the infant, but to no avail. She kept swatting the spoon away.
"So, you don't want the airplane?" Clockwork began making sounds with her mouth and waving the spoon around. This seemed to make Lisa happy enough to accept her food. Unbeknownst to Clockwork, her husband was watching from around the corner, smiling to himself.
"Looks like my plan worked."

. . .

A knock came at the door, and Toby opened it. "Hey, Helen. Hey, Dina." "Hi Toby. How are the girls?"
"See for yourself."
The couple saw something they didn't think was possible.

Clockwork was cradling Mona and Lisa in her arms. "They're fast asleep", she said. Dina nodded and carefully took Mona, while Helen did the same to Lisa. They greeted their friends and left for their home. Toby looked at his wife, seeing a slight hint of disappointment on her face. "What's wrong?" "I wanted to hold them a little longer." The young man hugged Clockwork and placed a kiss on her head.
"I understand. But they're not our kids, remember?"
Clockwork moved out of the hug and looked at her husband. "Toby... I'm ready."

"Hm?" "I... I want to have a baby." Toby smiled and kissed her deeply. "Couch or bed?" "It's late, so where else?" "Bed it is."
