"This is gonna go well. It will go well. It has to", Natsu muttered to himself. He was standing close to a kayak, waiting for his girlfriend.
"You must learn to calm down", said Lily, who was sitting on a branch with Happy. "But what if she..." "She won't Natsu! I believe that this will go perfect!", said Happy. Natsu sighed. "Thanks, Happy."
There was a rustling in the bushes, and a young blonde female walked out. "Sorry I'm late!"
"It's okay. At least you're here."
The dragon slayer held out his hand, and his lover gently took it. They sat down in the kayak, which was slowly being pushed further into the water by Happy and Lily. "Why isn't Carla here?", asked Lily. "A beautiful lady such as her myst never do work like this!", explained Happy. The black exceed continued his pushing. "She definitely pegs him."Lucy looked at the area she and Natsu were in. It was very open, with just the night sky and water. Natsu looked at Lily and gave him a thumbs up. The small panther flew off. "Where's he going?" "You'll see." Lucy raised her eyebrow. She knew that this was definitely a surprise. And if she knew Natsu, then she knew he was pretty good with surprises.
Happy grew tired of pushing and rested in the kayak with the two humans, but remained quiet as to not disturb their romantic moment.
"Is it just me, or does that star look different from the others?", asked Lucy. Natsu followed her gaze at a yellow light in the distant night sky. "That's not a star, Luce." The celestial mage was about to ask what her lover meant, but got her answer when the supposed star began to lower, revealing to be a sky lantern. From somewhere far, the rest of the Fairy Tail guild were lifting more sky lanterns to the air, with Wendy using some of her wind magic to lead them to Natsu and Lucy.
The said blonde mage watched as more lanterns appeared. Her boyfriend looked at her eyes, seeing the lights reflect in her eyes, making them beautiful more than they already were.
"Natsu, did you do this?" "What do you think?" Lucy's hands clasped her mouth. "But why? It's not my birthday or anything." "I know. You see, there's a different reason I'm doing this." Natsu looked up at the sky at another sky lantern that was lowering down to them. It was different from the others, because it had a crescent moon shape on it.
"Lucy, how long have we known each other?" "I think I lost count." The couple shared a laugh. "Yeah, long enough to know that you're the perfect woman for me." Natsu picked up the lantern. "I do a lot of stupid stuff, but you love me nonetheless. Then there's the fact I sleep with you in your house." Lucy couldn't help but giggle at the mention of her lover's usual habit. "Now there's only one thing left to do."
Natsu detached a tiny box from the lantern, and opened it, revealing a diamond ring inside of it."Lucy Heartfilia, will you marry me?"
Lucy's mouth was hidden behind her hands, and her vision was blurred by the tears that came out of her eyes. "You idiot! Of course I will!" Natsu slipped the ring onto her finger, then had his lips attacked by hers. Happy, who sat there through the whole thing, flew out and pushed the boat back toward the shore.
As the two lovers walked out, they saw the rest of their friends standing and waiting in anticipation for them.
"She said yes!"
They all cheered and ran to congratulate the newly engaged couple. Lucy and Natsu were happy, but were a little unhappy that they had to wait for about 8-10 months before they could get hitched. But hopefully, it would've been worth it.
