"Come on, come on", Tenko said as he focused on the large health bar displayed on the screen in front of him. His wife, Rumi was about to speak to him, but kept to herself. She knew that when Tenko was deep in the game, it was best not to get in his way. Keigo had come to visit one time and attempted to greet the blue haired man, only to be yelled at. Tenko ended up being annoyingly grumpy for quite some time.
That day, Rumi learned not ruin her husband's immersion.
Tenko jumped up, cheering to himself as he had just defeated the game's boss. He turned around, seeing his wife looking at him. He cleared his throat and made himself a little proper. "What's up?" "The kids want you to say good night to them." Tenko chuckled and walked towards the room of his twin sons. Once he entered, he saw them tucked in bed and smiling at him.
"So I hear you two wanted a good night from me?" Both twins nodded. Tenko chuckled. He leaned in and gave his two sons a hug. "Night Haine. Night Tsukine. Sweet dreams." "Night Papa", said the boys. Tenko smiled at them and walked out the room, quietly closing the door. "I guess it's off to bed for us too, huh?" "What do you think, Captain Obvious?", joked Rumi. Her husband just chuckled with her and they both walked to their bedroom.
. . .
Tenko sat in his chair and began to play his game.
He didn't notice Tsukine walk into the room and stare in awe at the screen. He walked closer, which was when his father noticed him. "Morning, Tsukine. Up already?" The little boy nodded. Tenko chuckled and ruffled his hair, then continued to play his game. Tsukine moved towards the front of his father's seat and sat between his legs.
"What's that?", the child asked, pointing at the screen. His hand was right in Tenko's line of sight. "That's an alien. They're also the bad guys." Tenko pressed a button, which activated his characters gun that eliminated the aforementioned alien. Tsukine laughed at the sight.
Another alien was running away screaming, making Tsukine laugh again, this time joined in by his dad. He didn't know why, but a strange thought popped into Tenko's mind. "You wanna try?", he asked his son. Tsukine nodded, and had the controller placed in his hand. "What do I do?", he asked. "I'll show you. See, this button is for jumping. Press it." Tsukine tapped the button, watching his player character hop. "How do I shoot?" "You press this button. And to aim, you hold in this button. But don't always shoot, okay? You don't want the bullets running out."
Meanwhile, in the bathroom, Rumi closed the tap of the shower and walked out. After drying herself up a bit, she put on her clothes. He walked past her sons' room to see Haine beginning to wake up. "Morning, sleepyhead. Where's your brother?" Haine shrugged. "Maybe he went to go see Dad." Rumi froze. She could hear the TV was on, and that Tenko was there.
If he was focused on a game, and their son, their six year old son, was going to make him lose focus. Rumi didn't want to imagine it. The thought of her husband getting angry at her boy. It would most likely make him cry a whole hour.
The woman ran to the living room, hoping to save het son from whatever attitude his father would throw at him. As she skid into the room, she saw, much to her surprise, Tenko cheering his son on. "Did I do it, Dad?" "You sure did!" Tenko lifted Tsukine up and hugged him. They then both noticed Rumi standing in the room. "What are you two playing?", she asked. "Halo", said Tenko. "And don't worry, it's not violent. Well, not too violent." "I shot aliens, Mommy!" Rumi smiled at her son. "Babe, you look like you ran. What's going on?"
The woman awkwardly scratched her cheek. Tenko let Tsukine continue playing the game while he talked to his wife. "Rumi?" "It's just... you're usually so intense when playing games, I just thought of Tsukine made you lose focus and you'd... yell at him." Tenko chuckled. "Yeah, I guess I can get pretty grumpy, huh?" Rumi nodded.
"Yeah, but come on, Babe. Look at him", Tenko said, gesturing to his son. "How can I get mad at that? Also, I know for damn sure if I snapped at you I'd end up sleeping on the couch." Rumi chuckled. "Right you are." Tenko scratched the back of his head. "But to be fair, I should probably check my attitude when playing games." His wife kissed his cheek. "You do that." "Dad!", Tsukine called out. "I need help!" Tenko went to his son.
"What's wrong, buddy?" "I can't kill that car!" Rumi watched as her husband spent time with her son. "Mom?", said Haine, who had walked into the room. "What's wrong, Sweetie? Hungry?" Haine nodded. "Then let's go make some breakfast, okay?" The little boy excitedly ran to the kitchen, his mother following him.
