Tohka snuggled her head against Shido's chest, loving his warmth. Sadly, the moment was short lived, specifically by a shrill cry from the other room.
"I'll get it", said Tohka, getting up from bed much to her husband's chagrin. She left the room to go to the source of the crying, which was none other than her nine month old son Yugo. The young woman picked up the baby, but it still continued to cry. "It's okay, it's okay", she said, but to no avail. Yugo continued to cry. "Need help?", asked Shido, who was by the door. Tohka handed her son over to her husband, and he immediately stopped crying. The female spirit couldn't help but feel a little upset.
"What's wrong little guy? You hungry? You want breakfast?" The infant boy gurgled. "I'll take that as a yes." Tohka ran out the room. "I'll go make breakfast!" Shido chuckled and continued to rock his son in his arms, who grabbed a tuft of his father's hair.
. . .
"Come on, Yugo. Open up", said Tohka, hovering a spoon full of porridge in front of her child's face. He just whined and shook his head. "Let me try", said Shido. He took the spoon from Tohka's hand and moved the spoon around while making plane noises.
Yugo giggled at this and accepted the food.Tohka lowered her head, feeling sad at the sight before her. She only sat and watched as her husband finished feeding their baby.
"Was that delicious?", Shido asked Yugo in baby talk. The infant laughed, and was placed onto the floor. As his walked out the room, he followed him. Tohka followed her family, seeing how attached her son was to his father. More than he was to her. With a sad sigh, she sat down on the couch.
Shido decided to take a seat as well, as his son had now decided to play with his toys. He then felt his wife crawl up behind him and hug him. "Tohka? Is something wrong?" "Shido... am I a bad mother?"
"What?" "I asked if I am a bad mother."Shido stood up and looked at his lover. "Where is this coming from?" Tohka looked to the side. "Yugo keeps his distance from me. It's almost as if... he hates me." Shido hugged his wife. "He doesn't hate you. You're his mom. He loves you more than you'll ever know. Just give it time. You'll see."
Hearing this made Tohka smile. "Thank you, Shido." The couple leaned in and shared kiss, which didn't last long thanks to the sound of a baby gurgling as he crawled to his parents. Much to their surprise, the infant leaned up against Tohka's leg, nibbling on her knee. She picked him up, receiving a laugh.
"See. Told you", said Shido. Tohka smiled and rubbed her nose against Yugo's.
