Nishikata and Takagi walked down the street with their hands joined. The brunette woman's eyes were wandering, looking on in curiosity at her surroundings. "Um, Honey?" Nishikata looked at his fiancée. "What is it?" Takagi shook her head. "It's nothing." "Nothing? If we're going to get married, it's only fair we share our problems with each other. You know, like husbands and wives are supposed to."
"Oh? Share our problems, you say? What kind of problems?", said Takagi teasingly, as she walked close to Nishikata and rested her hand on his thigh.
He became flushed, but then regained his composure. "Just... tell me what's wrong, okay?"
Takagi sighed. "It's not exactly a problem, per se. I was just thinking about where we were going to have our wedding." "That's it? Did you... have something in mind?" Takagi was a little hesitant, but decided to talk about it. "I've always had this idea of how I wanted my wedding to be. Outdoors, in a nice nature area. And then there's me, with you, under a tree, becoming husband and wife."
Nishikata was taken aback. The Takagi described that scenario was rather... beautiful. "So, you've had this dream long?" "Only around the time we started high school." "So, pretty long." Takagi felt a soft kiss being put on the side of her head. "If you ask me, that does sound like a nice wedding." "It does, doesn't it?"
The couple joined hands again and continued their walk.
                              . . .
Takagi sat on the couch, enjoying the cup of tea that was in her hands, when the sound of Nishikata's footsteps emanated from the stairs. He picked up his car keys, peeking his fiancée's interest. "Going somewhere?" "How far are you with that tea?"
Takagi raised her eyebrow, then looked into her cup. "About one sip away from being done. Why?" "I want you to come with me somewhere." Now Takagi was curious, enough to gulp down her tea. "Let's go then."
They walked over to their car, then drove off. "So, where are we going?" "You'll see", said Nishikata.
"Oh? A surprise? You shouldn't have", said Takagi. "Trust me. You'll love it."
Once they reached a certain point on their trip, Nishikata began scanning his surroundings. "Alright, I need you to close your eyes for a bit." "So it's one of those kind of surprises. Interesting", said Takagi, closing her eyes nonetheless. She felt the car stop, and was about to close her eyes before her fiancé stopped her. "Don't open them yet. Just take my hand and follow me."
Nishikata climbed out of the car and opened Takagi's door. Then he took her hand and lead her to where her surprise waited.
It was a somewhat short walk, around three minutes to be exact, before the couple arrived at their destination.
"Okay. Open your eyes." Takagi did so, and was surprised to see an open field, full of clear green grass, with bushes and trees here and there.
"What is this?" "Our wedding spot!" Takagi was taken aback. "I thought about the what you said about how you wanted your dream wedding, so did some searching, and the locals were kind enough to offer this place. And look!"
Nishikata ran to the side. "They've got white rose bushes! Now you can't tell me that that's bad wedding decor. And look at the tree! It's big, and the perfect one for us to be officiated under. So what do you think?"
Takagi's mouth was clasped by her hands. She was trying with all her might to not burst into joyful tears, only barely succeeding. Nishikata was right. This was the place. The perfect place for her dream wedding. The young woman looked at her husband-to-be, the man responsible for bringing her to this place. At this point, her body acted on its own and ran towards him, nearly knocking him to the ground as she leaped into his arms. Nishikata picked Takagi up by her legs, now holding her in a princess carry.
"I love you!", exclaimed the brunette. Her fiancé smiled and rubbed her nose with his.
"Hey, it's my role as your future husband to give you the happiest life that I can, starting with giving you the wedding you deserve." Takagi had tears escape the corner of her eyes, as she lunged her head forward and kissed Nishikata deeply. He was shocked at first, but melted into it.
After they finished, Takagi was gently put down. "You want to explore more of this place?", asked Nishikata, receiving a nod from his lover.
The couple walked around the area more, discussing more details for their upcoming wedding.
After months of waiting and planning, the wedding happened, and Takagi officially had her dream come true. And it was all thanks to Nishikata, her husband.
