The moon was smiling it's usually disturbing smile as the night sky shrouded Death City. Somewhere in this said city, in a house, a young white haired man by the name of Soul Eater Evans looked up at the ceiling of the room from his bed. He caressed the hands that rested on his chest, and gently took them off. He sat up, and walked over to the closet.
Maka Albarn, whom the hands that rested on Soul belonged to, had stirred a bit and woke up. She saw him stand by the closet, picking up an object.
"Soul?" The said man turned to look and see his girlfriend. "I'm sorry. Didn't mean to wake you." "It's okay. But what's wrong?" Soul chuckled. "Just couldn't sleep." He walked back to the bed and sat down, resting the object on his lap.
It was portable piano.
"I usually play this whenever I have trouble sleeping. Helps put me at ease." Maka moved closer to Soul and embraced him from behind. "Could you play some for me?" "Why? You have trouble sleeping too?", asked Soul, jokingly, but also a little seriously. "No. I just like listening to you play", said Maka as she rested her head on her lover's shoulder. He smiled, and rested his hands on the keys.
He pressed one, a tune ringing throughout the room. He then pressed another, and then another, until it came out as a song. Maka closed her eyes and listened to it, being soothed by the sound. It was true what she said. There was no sound in the world that she loved more than the sound of music created by Soul. It was soothing to her.
Of course, that does not mean Soul doesn't get his fair share. There were times where Maka would occasionally sing to herself, and her boyfriend would just so happen listen in on her.
As Soul played the piano more, he started making a tune that sounded very familiar to Maka. "Wait, I know this song." "I know. You were singing it earlier today. It came to mind, so I thought I'd play it." Soul kept playing, and Maka began to hum along with his music. The couple swayed their heads along with the rhythm with loving smiles on their faces.
Soul pressed on the final key for the night, and looked at his girlfriend. "That was fun." "Sure was. So are you ready to go to sleep again?" The white haired man nodded. He stood up to go put his piano away and climbed back into bed. Maka pecked him on the lips and snuggled closer to him. Soul rested his arms around her, and kissed her head.
"Night, Maka."
