Chrom stopped walking and then let the tears consume him. He cried into his hands, he couldn't contain it inside him anymore. He was terrified to do anything. Soon Alcryst came walking by.
"Chrom..."
"W-What?!" Chrom looked over and cleared his tears. Alcryst looked at him with worry.
Alcryst muttered, "I'm sorry for being so annoying and all but I saw you and... I just felt like something else was troubling you besides that incident."
"I don't know... I made a lot of mistakes in my life. Mainly when I was naive," Chrom responded. Alcryst looked at him in confusion as Chrom turned around. "I was nineteen when me and Robin met. I'm twenty-eight right now... I feel so stupid."
Alcryst muttered, "I-If you don't mind. Can you tell me what went down between you and Robin?"
"I'll go ahead and do so," Chrom said with a small smile. He took a deep breath and looked down at himself.
...
...
"Hey! Is everything alright?" Robin asked. Chrom sat there in his tent staring down at himself. Robin closed it behind them and looked at him in worry. He walked over and then sat beside him. "You look troubled, what's the matter?"
Chrom explained, "Oh why does it matter Robin? It's not like I deserve the care or anything..." Robin looked down at himself and then back at Chrom.
"Is it dealing with that girl?"
"W-What girl!?" Chrom asked as he was all flustered up. Robin giggled and then nudged Chrom a little. "Robin that wasn't funny! Jeez you can be a pain in the ass sometimes."
Robin laughed, "You always are so tied up in the smallest of things. I know a lot has been happening but you have to confess to her one way or another. Emelia will not know!"
"Robin..." Chrom looked down at himself and then laid back on the ground. He shook his head and then turned to Robin. "Are you certain you won't be hurt over this? I know I..."
Robin sighed, "I am aware but... you do you... okay?" Chrom nodded slowly as he closed his eyes. Robin sat there staring at Chrom making sure he was asleep. Then he looked down at himself. What's the damn point of working with the shepherds? Emelia can be found being an idiot and honestly Chrom is the perfect fit for her. I don't get it... I liked Chrom but... I don't see the point anymore.
Robin slowly got up and then soon walked out of the tent. He walked into his tent and then sat down around his books. Robin opened one up and started reading it. I have no use of Chrom now... and maybe... I can help the fell dragon... that has always been one of my goals...
...
Chrom explained, "Robin had made a sudden shift after Emmeryn's death. Saying how I could've saved her if I wasn't so idiotic. Blaming me and Lissa, Emelia tried to interfere but Robin wasn't having it."
Alcryst muttered, "I see. I am really sorry that this had to happen to you. I know how much Robin meant to you... that's how I feel about Diamant. Did you guys ever consider each other as brothers?"
"Sometimes but not all the time. I wasn't attached to him enough it seems. But even then he meant a whole lot to me, a friend, an ally, a best friend even..." Chrom replied. He looked down at himself as they saw that the sun was setting. "I've lost so many people close to me. I think I'm cursed in some given way. I'm not sure how I am though..."
Alcryst sighed, "I think that too... but recently I have been trying to make an effort in order to make me feel more confident. I want to try helping you if you don't mind..."
"I wouldn't mind at all, go ahead Alcryst, share me what you have in mind," Chrom replied with a smile. Alcryst nodded as he took a deep breath.
Alcryst explained, "Lately, I've been thinking about how I can better myself. How can I be a better person? What can I do in order for others to like me?"
"Um... what do you do?"
"Sometimes, I think long and hard about things I do and what I don't do. Then I decide to focus on the things I like to do. If I want to apologize to someone... I think about what I did wrong..."
"I see..."
Alcryst stammered, "But sometimes I apologize for everything. This has been a habit of mine since I was little. I'm so sorry..."
"No don't you worry about a thing, you're perfectly alright," Chrom replied. Alcryst stared at him and nodded. He took a deep breath and then ahead of himself. "You are an amazing person Alcryst. You have inspired all of us." Alcryst turned over and made a slight smile at Chrom.
Alcryst sighed, "I... I don't know what to say... ugh someone like me shouldn't be getting praise."
"You do though, you're willing to help me compared to others," Chrom replied. Alcryst looked at him and then nodded. "Let's get back to the mansion, the day is about to end and we better get rest. Vila is about to start soon."
Alcryst sighed, "Soon it will be Olive. I will say I am excited for the spring season."
"So am I... let's do our absolute best and hardest!" Chrom laughed. Alcryst nodded as the two began to walk down to the mansion together. "Alcryst... once again I cannot express this enough but thank you... I need to get that off my chest and you were the only one willing to help and listen to me."
Alcryst stammered, "I only did what was best! No need for your constant praise..."
"Sorry... I will stop now," Chrom replied. The two looked at one another and smiled. Walking down to the mansion to turn in for the night.
