Silent Winds Across The Blizzard ~ Chapter 49

The heroes quickly entered the home as the blizzard rampaged outside. They looked around and saw the other heroes sitting around the house. They were cold and it seemed like the blizzard wouldn't stop.

"We lost hold of Byleth, but in the meantime we found Veyle who was manipulated by Byleth. Worst of all, he got his hands on the book," Alear explained.

Sonic grunted, "He's already so close to gaining all this power. Sometimes I feel like we underestimate him too much."

"Too much? We always underestimate him, he's great at manipulating others to do his bidding and twice we nearly get killed by him," Chrom explained. He looked out the window, and saw how crazy the blizzard was. "I'm just wondering where he is... he fell off the cliff and I'm certain he's alive still."

Link asked, "He fell off the cliff? Why?"

Shez responded, "Most likely to get away from us is what I'm guessing. Byleth wants to make sure he's far away from us so we don't interfere with his goals. Luckily with this storm in the way I doubt he made any progress and is instead trying to hide out or warm up."

"Yeah, that's a fair point, we just need to protect the border the best we can before he even gets close to it," Alcryst explained.

Kazuha sighed, "We'll be doing that while you guys try to discover what's so special about that crown and more importantly what drove Byleth to this mindset."

"Right, we'll focus on that after the Winter Storm," Chrom replied. Veyle looked at everyone and back down at herself. Suddenly Gooey walked over and waved his tongue at her.

Veyle asked, "I haven't seen you around here before. What's your name?" Gooey looked at her and grabbed a whiteboard. He wrote his name down and explained to Veyle that he doesn't talk often. "That's nice Gooey, my name is Veyle and I'm Alear's younger sister."

Hajime said, "This snow is so calming but it's... making feel a little tired. Is that how snow makes you all feel?" Some of the heroes nodded while others stood there quietly

"The winter storms are always so nice to witness. But they are a nightmare to walk in, but either way I do like the blizzard..." Alear sighed as she looked outside. The heroes nodded as they went to focus on doing other things. Veyle walked over to Alear who was watching the window.

Veyle muttered, "Um... sister?"

"Yeah? What's the matter?"

"I want to help you guys, I only thought that since Byleth was a hero I thought he could be trusted, but now I realize I can't really trust him. But I can at least trust you, so I want to help," Veyle explained.

Alear wondered, "So you want to join the team? I don't think that's a bad idea..."

"Yeah! I know the original team leader had passed away but maybe the person in charge can... invite me in?" Veyle replied. Alear looked around and nodded. She walked over to Sonic and took a deep breath.

Alear said, "Sonic, I have a question for you from Veyle."

"Oh sure! What's up?" Alear was going to talk before they heard loud rumbling outside the house. "What the..."

Alear asked, "What was that?!" They looked around the area and looked outside the window. There was nothing outside, the heroes looked at one another in confusion. The blizzard had suddenly stopped...

Shez muttered, "The blizzard stopped..."

"What's going on?" Agent 4 questioned. They looked around the area and then slowly walked outside. Snow was still flowing down but there was no more blizzard. "How... odd?"

Veyle explained, "Blizzards don't stop that quickly! There's something terribly wrong!" The heroes looked around and walked outside to see what was going on. There was nothing to see. "There's an aura around here that feels unsettling, I'm not even sure what it is..."

Alear muttered, "I feel it too... it feels like negative energy for sure." The heroes searched the area more and looked around more. Silence filled the town, naturally everyone was indoors still but there was something so odd about the area.

"Keep on high guard everyone, we're unsure of what is going on..." Eula muttered. The heroes nodded as they all slowly separated to search the area. There was nothing still, but suddenly there was another loud thump. Chrom turned around and looked around.

"Hope you didn't miss me that much..." Chrom immediately turned around and saw Byleth, he held tight on his sword and smiled at Chrom. "I had a nice downtime when I was alone in a shelter. Luckily I had a friend that joined. Also I have Team Villain here..."

Chrom grumbled, "But it doesn't explain why the snow stopped."

"That doesn't matter, it's about time you and I had a little duel with one another or how I say it. A dance in the wither snow..."
