Who Survives This Trial ~ Chapter 25

THIS IS ON THE OFFENSE OF THE OPPOSING SIDE!

Shez and Alcryst both silently walked in to sit down with one another on the other side of where Chrom and Alear were sitting. Soon officers came in with Byleth in their hands. Then the judge came in, it was none other than Kokomi.

Kokomi sighed, "We'll be starting soon." She sat down as the two looked at one another in worry. Soon the other remaining team members joined in anxiously.

Shez asked, "Do we know what we're doing?"

"I believe so..." Alcryst replied as they both took a deep breath. Then Kokomi cleared her throat. The trial was now in session. The two stood there with anxiety while Chrom and Alear looked ready to defend Byleth with the life of them. Celica quickly walked in and joined the opposing teams while Marth walked in and joined the defenders.

Shez whispered, "Why did you and Marth join the trial?"

"Each party needs to have four people, we're getting one more person..." Celica replied while whispering. Soon the remaining members joined. Alm walked in and joined the opposers while Alerius came in and joined the defenders.

Alcryst muttered, "Already stressing me out here..." Then Kokomi got everyone ready and prepared.

Kokomi announced, "As we know, Mario was recently killed and found dead near Mila pond. The police officers and the heroes are joining us to give us testimonies about the events and explaining in full detail. Each detail will have either one defend it or oppose it. Now let's get to understanding our situation here. There are several pieces of evidence we will be showcasing to prove whether or not Byleth is innocent or not.

Here is our major piece of evidence which we will discuss at the end of the trial. We were able to grab items from Byleth that lead to him being the murderer. The biggest being the stained dagger. Now, let's get into the session." The teams took their seating as the first testimony went up.

"Hello, my name is Sonic The Hedgehog, I am here to speak out for Mario as he was my closest ally. Either way, I would like to bring up the idea of Byleth's coat being stained in what appears to be blood marks. However, I have noticed upon further inspection that those stains were in fact... mustard and ketchup stains," Sonic explained. Shez and Alcryst stared at each other as Chrom and Alear nodded.

Chrom announced, "I agree that too, I can see upon further inspection you can see those are the only stains on there. Therefore, it's hard to say those are blood stains-"

"OBJECTION!" Shez shouted. Chrom looked over as Shez appeared to be nervous but ready to oppose the idea. "I would like to point out how difficult it would be to remove blood stains. Even then I would like to bring the idea of how it would be hard to remove the blood stains."

Alcryst shouted, "Byleth if you didn't know is a clean freak! Why would he leave his coat stained even then? It wouldn't make any sense at all!"

"Perhaps he didn't notice the stains on the coat until he got captured by the police! I'm sorry to say but your statements don't make sense!" Alear replied.

Celica shouted, "To you they don't, Byleth could've very easily noticed and tried to clean it off but due to the fact he didn't have any time and didn't want to appear suspicious. He didn't try! May I also present the second evidence?" Then Celica presented the supermarket security footage.

"W-What the..." Byleth whispered. The defenders watched the video in confusion. It was footage of Byleth running to the restroom in a hurry after talking to someone.

Marth sighed, "Your evidence is flawed. How do we know this is about the mustard stain? Perhaps he needed to use the restroom badly."

"I... I..." Celica muttered as she looked at everyone. The opposers didn't know what else to say.
