As the clock struck six in the evening, Seher found herself surrounded by the vibrant hues of the living room, engrossed in guiding Liam on coloring between the lines and teaching Meher the names of various colors. Meanwhile, Daniel descended the stairs, impeccably dressed in blue jeans, a matching shirt, and a stylish brown leather jacket, completed with brown boots. He exuded a charm reminiscent of someone right out of an advertisement, capturing Seher's attention for a lingering ten seconds. She quickly redirected her gaze before Daniel could notice her admiring him.
As he smiled affectionately at the children immersed in their creative endeavors, Daniel suddenly realized he needed to have a conversation with Seher about his plans for the evening. He wasn't eager to discuss it, but he knew he had to inform her before Amelia joined them downstairs. In his mind, it wasn't a date with Amelia; they were simply going out as friends. Daniel didn't want Seher to misconstrue their outing.
However, luck seemed to elude Daniel once again. As he approached Seher and the children to discuss her looking after them that night, Amelia descended the stairs, looking like a dream that defied her 34 years. She wore a strappy navy blue dress, ending mid-thigh, her hair pulled into a high ponytail. Adorning her wrist with an Apple watch on one hand and an array of bracelets on the other, she completed her look with heeled brown boots. In that moment, she emanated a youthful vibe akin to a college girl. Daniel, gazing at his wife from head to toe, felt a sense that she was currently out of his league. Suppressing the desire to compliment her, he merely smiled. He was already aware of the emotional turmoil he was causing Seher and opted not to add further complexity to the situation.
Daniel cleared his throat just as Amelia confidently approached Seher and the children. In a sweet voice, she called out, "Miss Sandhu, can I have a word?" Seher promptly stood up, adopting a professional tone, and responded, "Yes, Mrs. Mitchell, how can I help you?"
Amelia smiled at Miss Sandhu, radiating a honey-sweet expression. "Miss Sandhu, Danny and I are going out for the night, and we would be very grateful if you could look after Liam. You know his routines, so please ensure he sleeps on time, as he has his class with Samantha in the morning."
Glancing briefly at Daniel, Miss Sandhu maintained her professional demeanor and replied, "Of course, Mrs. Mitchell. I know Liam's routines, and I will make sure he is in bed on time."
Amelia looked at Miss Sandhu with an even wider smile and expressed her gratitude, "Thank you so much, Miss Sandhu. You are a lifesaver. I haven't had one peaceful moment with Danny since the weeks I've been back, and we owe our night to you tonight. Thank you so much."
Seher offered a tight smile to Amelia and calmly stated, "You don't need to thank me, Mrs. Mitchell. It's my job. I hope you both enjoy your night." She briefly glanced at Daniel before stepping back and returning to the children without saying another word.
Unfazed, Amelia approached Liam, crouched down, and playfully ruffled his hair. "Brad, baby, Miss Sandhu is going to take care of you tonight, alright? Please go to bed on time, and Mama and Daddy will see you in the morning, okay?" Liam tilted his head, asking, "But where are you going, Mama?"
Amelia smiled at him, "Well, baby, just like you and Mama had a mommy-son date the other day when we went to the park and had burgers, today we're going to have a Mama and Dada date, okay?" Liam formed his mouth in an O, exclaiming, "Oh, so you're going to eat cheeseburgers," he said.
Amelia chuckled at her son's enthusiasm and turned to Daniel, saying, "Well, Danny, our son shares our love for cheeseburgers, that's for sure. Genetics is a strong thing." Daniel smiled uneasily, his gaze shifting to Seher, trying to decipher her expressions. Amelia kissed Liam on his forehead and added, "I've asked Rhonda to prepare cheeseburgers for you too, so you're also going to have cheeseburgers for dinner today." Liam cheered happily, wishing his parents goodnight as his mother went outside towards the cars.
