It was the night of Diwali, and Saffron Street by Sehar Sandhu with fairy lights adorning the surroundings, cast a radiant glow in shades of white and yellow. From a distance, they resembled tiny diamonds, adding a magical touch to the atmosphere. Inside, the setting was serene and soulful, with speakers playing tunes of various worship songs and aartis.

In the corner, a makeshift temple had been arranged, hosting a new Ganesh and Lakshmi idol. These divine figures would eventually find their place in Sehar's apartment after the festive celebration. Delving into the essence of Diwali rituals, guests brought gifts that reflected their genuine understanding. Richard and Elaine's present, silver Lakshmi and Ganesh idols stood out for their thoughtful touch. Notably, these weren't acquired from Chicago but were specially crafted in India and sent by Rachel.

On another front, Robert and Sienna contributed to the festive spirit with a set of handmade artisan diyas. Crafted by local orphanage artists, these diyas showcased intricate designs, adding a unique charm to the celebration. As the worship ceremony unfolded, Maximillian stepped forward with a significant gift. According to his research, precious metals are worshipped on Diwali to usher in prosperity.

In his hands, he held a gold coin adorned with images of the gods, enclosed in a small box. As he opened the box and presented the coin for inclusion in the worship, Sehar's eyes widened in surprise. Anticipating a discussion, Maximillian shook his head, silently communicating that they would address it later. Sehar, appreciative of the gesture, squeezed his hand in gratitude before carefully placing the gold coin at the feet of the idols, adhering to the prescribed ritual.

After a 30-minute round of chanting all the aartis following the ritual, prayers were offered to various gods. The sequence began with paying homage to Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi, followed by honoring God Shiva and Goddess Parvati, and finally, Lord Ram. The ceremony culminated in lighting the biggest diya, a ghee lamp intended to burn throughout the night.

According to tradition, Goddess Lakshmi is believed to visit homes on Diwali night, blessing them with prosperity. To welcome her, it is customary to keep a diya burning, providing illumination for her to see and bless the household. With all the rituals completed, everyone reveled in the new culture and traditions. Seher was particularly delighted, as this marked the first time she vividly recalled celebrating Diwali with such fulfillment. Every element was in place - a beautiful family to partake in the worship, exquisite idols, and gold and silver for the ceremonial offerings.

Feeling the dainty anklets on her feet, she couldn't help but think about Maximilian, in whom, she had truly discovered a gem, her own Kohinoor, and it wasn't just about the gifts. His gestures, the attention to the smallest details, made her cultural experiences come alive, from the first date at the Gurdwara to today. Wearing ethnic attire and respecting customs, like removing shoes near the temple, showed his deep involvement. It was a beautiful testament that Maximilian's feelings for her went beyond the physical. He was fully committed to her and her daughter, and Seher cherished every moment. After distributing prasad to all the guests and noticing Victor looking genuinely hungry, Seher shook her head, and instructed Miles to open the buffet immediately. The dark green color complemented her complexion perfectly, prompting Seher to compliment her, "Amelia, you look stunning today.
