I feel another pang of guilt knowing that I am the reason for Zak's restlessness. I turn towards him and kiss him quickly.
"Morning hon." I greet him, he smiles at me but it doesn't quite reach his eyes which remain dark and stormy.
'Feeling any better today?" He asks me. I shake my head avoiding his gaze.
"No sorry." I apologise.
'That's ok." He says but I swear there's a touch of irritation in his voice.
I get up and get ready for the day ahead and I note the dark circles under my eyes. I try and cover them but I can tell that I still look tired and more dishevelled than usual. I have neither the time or inclination to attempt to set it right. Again we join the others at the front of the hotel ready to interview a few more people and checkout a couple of other possible locations before the lockdowns later that day. I join Aaron at the RV and he raises an eyebrow at me, I just shake my head causing him to give me a quick hug before getting on board. I feel the gaze of the others on the back of my head but I ignore it wanting to get started and the day over and done with.
We go to the two possible locations and I find out they are domestic houses with supposed spiritual residents. I feel nothing at either property and I'm convinced that the owners are just trying to cash in but we all agree it would be good to have something to debunk.
The afternoon is free before we start the lockdown at the hotel where we will be spending a few hours before spending the rest of the night at the tunnel. I remain in my melancholy mood and Zak gets more surly and short tempered as the day draws on. Instead of gravitating towards each other as we would normally do we seem to do all we can to avoid each other and everyone is walking on eggshells.
Its time to start the lockdown and as we have such a large area to cover we split up. Aaron and I pair up, Zak and Billy head off together leaving Jay in the nerve centre. Aaron and I head to our room first and I let Aaron begin calling out to the woman that supposedly haunts it. After a while of him receiving no response I resign myself to giving it a go.
"Do you like the man that has been staying here?" I ask and wait for an answer, I hear a faint tap on the wall next to me. "Do you want him to stay?" Another tap. 'Do you like me?" I ask but there is no response. "Why don't you like me?" I wait a little while longer. "Ouch! Fuck!" I clutch the back of my head and rub my scalp.
"Huh? You ok Tracy?" What happened?" Aaron asks from the other side of the bed.
"I swear something just pulled my hair and hard!" I tell him not at all amused. "Bitch!" I whisper under my breath. Sensing my irritability Aaron leads the calling out for a while but as nothing more happens we go back to Jay to do a quick review for EVPs and whether we can see my hair being tugged.
We play back the tape and clearly hear a woman's voice answering my questions. It was quite plain to hear that she wanted Zak to stay and for me to leave. I roll my eyes in irritation, Zak was going to lap this up! We also look at the camera footage and we find that the xcamera is at the perfect angle to clearly see my hair being messed with. Aaron and Jay are ecstatic to have captured such great evidence but I throw my hands in the air and tut.
