It felt like I was being ripped apart from the inside, as if claws were tearing at my very soul. I tried to raise a wall of light against the onslaught of darkness, I tried to remember Father Gwynne's words but they died on my lips as all my sensibilities left me. The pain tore at me but the feelings of despair, sorrow and torment were unbearable. The world slips away from me, I can no longer hea rAmber's chanting or feel Zak's hand in mine, there is only pain, desperation and misery. But while Hatchi had turned his attention to me his hold on Zak had broken.

"Tracy! Sweetie! Talk to me. Fight him Tracy, please!" He begs and moves to get up and come to me.

"Zak you can't, you have to stay where you are to complete the ritual, you have to be careful not to break the bond between you, Tracy and the knife." Jay explains to him gently, trying to keep him still and calm.

"Somebody help her! Aaron?!" He shouts for his best friend. Poor Aaron looks grief stricken that he is unable to do more but he tries to appease his friend as best he can.

"That's what we're doing bro, we're breaking you both free of this son of a bitch. Stay strong for her Zak, we've all got to stay strong for her." He lays a cool hand on my forehead as he speaks. "She's a tough cookie, she can get through this but you need to help her, let her know you are here fighting for her."

"The burning stage of the spell is almost complete Zak, we just need you guys to hold on for five more minutes." Billy tells him as he helps Amber to complete the ritual. Zak turns his attention back to me,squeezing my hand he speaks to me once again.

"Tracy, come on you can fight this sweetie. You have to come through this. Rufus will be waiting for you back home, then you can do whatever you want remember? The world is yours, think about the Nook, England and all we're going to do together. I need to show you Vegas and the museum, you're so excited about the museum you crazy thing, and Gracie, she's going to love you I know it. Please Tracy, come back, fight through this for me, I love you!" My head snaps to look at him but he flinches at the sight of me. "Tracy?" He asks apprehensively.

"This is all your fault Zachary!" I spit and laugh as the hurt flashes in his eyes. "You're causing me all this pain and heartache. I wish I'd never fucking met you! I can't fucking wait for you to go back to sin city where you belong, amongst the whores and deadbeats. You disgust me!" I snarl at him and pull my fingers from his as though his touch burns me. A tear runs down Zak's cheek mirroring the tear that escapes my own eye, at odds with the bile spewing from my mouth with a cold sneer.

"That's not Tracy talking, let her go!" Zak demands.

"Maybe, maybe not but what is being said is the truth isn't it?" I grin maniacally causing Zak to turn away. He begins to pray under his breath, at first he speaks to God making me laugh coldly but then he calls on someone else.

"Delphyne please, if you can hear me help her. Show her the light and guide her back to me." I scream in rage and pain as Hatchi claws at the bond between us with the same bony hand that had almost drowned me. He is enraged at the sound of Delphne's name and is desperate to break me away from the link to it. "Come on Delphyne, help us!" Zak implores. An unholy roar of terror and fury erupts from my lips as I leap up. I grab the deadly knife and straddle Zak placing the tip of the blade against his throat as I calmly proclaim,

"It is ALL your fault and you WILL burn in hell!!"
