36: "we need time apart"

i walked along the path listening to ariana grande. i spotted justin sitting at our tree and went over. i sat down nervously and took my earphones out.

"hi" i said quietly.
"hey" he replied.
it was a bit awkward if you ask me.
"so...you're gay" he said.
"yeah" i replied.
"i don't blame you. men suck"
i burst out laughing. justin giggled but then we eventually calmed down.
"well, i'm really proud of you for coming out. it takes a lot and i know it probably wasn't easy to"

"thanks" i replied quietly
"buit hurts. a lot. i can't be with the girl im falling for" he said. "but youre happy so...thats good. but i think we need time apart" he added.
"w-what do you mean?"
"i gotta get over this crush and maybe you can find yourself a girlfriend..." he joked. i scoffed and smiled.
"well. i'll miss you"

we hugged one last time.

he was the second person i'd ever said i love you to.
"thanks. i love you too. see you around"
