Different Newtmas (Maze #8)

Chapter 28

THOMAS POV:

We climbed down the walls. "So how can it ran in the maze" asked a runner. "Sprinklers maybe" said Lewis. "At least we have a water source. I don't care where from I just know that with out it the farmers wouldn't grow any food and we would have nothing to drink" said a runner. We sat down by the wall and every one started eating. I reached for my sack lunch but didn't feel it. I had to take my chest armor thing off. I saw that I FORGOT MY LUNCH. I signed annoyed. I must of left it in the kitchen earlier. I could of sworn I got it. I stood up. "Where you going" asked a runner. "I think my lunch bag fell off some where" I said. "Here, you can have my potato. The cooks always give me them but I don't like potatoes" said a runner. I took the potato and sat back down. "Thanks" I said. I started eating the potato. It tasted okay I guess but I didn't really care because it's this or find my lunch bag. I can only imagine the stuff that was put in there today.

We finished eating and I finished the potato. I also ate the skin cause it's edible and healthy apparently. Or at least that's what my dad's told me when I was little. We started looking for a trap door or something. I stayed away from the wall with the exit. I don't need them finding the exit. We found nothing as usually and ran back to the glade. I looked around as we ran to see if my lunch bag fell off anywhere. It didn't or I didn't see it but I assume I left it in the kitchen.

NEWT POV:

When I went to lunch today every one saw that one of the runners forgot their lunch. It was Thomas' because his name was on the bag like always. I signed annoyed. I hope didn't leave it because he was too worried for me. I can imagine he will come back hungry though. Hopefully one of the runners has some extra food for Thomas. After I finished work for the day I waited by the gate with Thomas' lunch. I didn't wait long cause the runners ran back not long after. "Hey" said Thomas running up to me. 

"You forgot your lunch" I said handing him his bag. "Thanks" said Thomas. He took his lunch and ran to join the runners at their base. "I'LL BE RIGHT BACK NEWT" he yelled. I smiled. My boyfriend is something else. I'm not just saying that because he his half griever. I walked over to the farm for the last few minutes and then went to dinner after meeting up with Thomas. "When do you have to get the stitches removed" asked Thomas. "I don't, WCKD used a special type that will start dissolving after it's closed up (it's real)" I said. "At least we don't have to go back" said Thomas. "Ya, you think they are mad with how often we go there" I asked. "No, well they wish we stayed in the maze more but they understand since we are still doing our job" said Thomas. We made it to the kitchen and had some dinner. We talked a little bit and Chuck joined us. I still remember when Chuck came up into the maze I was hoping they sent a halfing like me but I was disappointed to find out Chuck was human. I'm sure the next greenie will be human though. They mostly send up humans but I'm glad they sent Thomas up into the maze.
