Once class was over, I stayed in my room finishing an assignment. My lower back ached still but not as much as before. I typed on my laptop, searching something up until I heard my stomach growling. I cover my stomach. I didn't eat much today. I didn't bother to look in the refrigerator because I wasn't hungry that much. But I don't think my stomach feels the same way. It kept growling for food, so I guess I will go find something.
I stand up from my seat and close my laptop. Before I get the chance to pull my chair in, I hear a sound of a rock being thrown at my window. My eyes dart to the direction. No one was there. I take a step closer until I can see a big view of the stars in the sky. I lower eyes down a few inches and see a figure standing on the ground. I crease my brow, trying to get a better image. Its blurry form morphs into Liam standing in the yard.
A smile forms on my lips. I unclip the locks on the window and lift the glass up. A cold, breezy gust hit me in the face, giving me goosebumps.
"Hey," I hear Liam call out with a smile of his.
"What are you doing here?" I ask him.
"I wanted to," he answers, tucking his hands into his pockets. "Dinah gave me your guy's address."
I widen my eyes, surprised, "Really?"
He nods his head, letting out a chuckle. He seems to be nervous. I can hear him breathing in and out. Maybe it was just the cold wind. "Yeah, um, I actually wanted to show you something," he said.
I crease my brows, wondering what it was. I glance back to my room. I still had a lot of homework to catch up on, and I would be breaking the rules. I turn back to him, asking, "Is this really urgent?"
"It will take less than twenty minutes, depending on you," he answers.
I glance back once more. My anxiety increases, not knowing what to do. Think. Just think and decide.
I guess it wouldn't hurt to go out for a bit. Plus, Simon isn't home at the moment. He's out at Sofia's high school dance as a chaperone. My eyes shift back on him, and I nod my head. "Okay, I will be down there in a bit," I tell." He nods his head.
I push the glass down and grab a jacket in my closet. I slide into it and walk out my door. I trot down the stairs and made it pass the kitchen until I hear Lauren calling my name. I turn around and see her walking up to me from the living room. "Where are you going?" she asks.
"Um, I, um, I have to meet up with someone," I answer, lowering my head a little bit.
"Who?" Lauren questions.
"Just a friend I met yesterday," I answer.
"What's their name?" Lauren questions, looking deep into my eyes. Her green eyes were very beautiful, but they can also have an intimidation on you. And I've seen it. Lauren and I are not the closest in the household. I try to get along with her, but I feel like she's irritated of me sometimes.
I swallow hard. My mind was debating if I should tell her or not. If I tell her, she could tell Simon. But if I don't, she's going to tell Simon for sure. I guess...telling her wouldn't be that bad of a choice, especially since I'm not doing anything wrong. I am just hanging with a friend.
"So?" Lauren asks, rolling her eyes at me.
"His name is Liam," I reply, not making eye contact with her.
"Liam? Who is he?" Lauren questions.
"He's a friend I met yesterday," I repeat.
"Are you sure he's a friend?" Lauren asks, taking a step closer to me to the point where I can feel her breathing on my face.
