I hear a loud knocking on the door, and I trot down the stairs and pass the kitchen and the living room until I finally reach the door. A feeling inside of me ignited, and I feel hopeful at who it could be behind the door. My hand touches the knob, and I twist it and pull it open.
I smile breathlessly, seeing Liam standing right before me. His smile grows. "Hey," he said so delicately.
I open my mouth and catch my breath at first. "Hi," my voice grew fragile. I could feel the shakiness of it. I take a step closer, wondering if this was real or just a dream.
He opens up his arms, and I grew a little hesitant, not sure if it was just my mind that was playing tricks with me. "I'm here, sweetheart," he says.
Tears welled up in my eyes, hearing him call me sweetheart once more.
"You don't have to wait anymore," he says. He stretched his opened arms, and I nod my head, swallowing the lump in my throat. I chuckle a little.
After a second, I run up to him and jump on him, wrapping my arms around his shoulders and legs around his waist. He chuckles and swings us in a circle. I lower my eyes to his blue eyes and bring my hand on his short, fuzzy beard. My thumb caresses his lips, and in shortly, I lean down. Our lips connect as my heart finally feels whole again. He steps inside the house and shuts the door behind us.
We move to the nearest couch, only breaking apart for oxygen. I laid on the cushions with my head on the arm of the chair. Liam swings his legs over my thighs and removes his jacket. He connects our lips and breaks it off shortly to nibble my collarbone. I breathe in and out slowly. My arms slide under his, grasping onto his shirt and his hair. I tighten my grip and moan breathlessly. He kisses my neck and sneaks his hand behind my back.
I close my eyes as he stops and rests his head on my chest. Everything was quiet for a small second that seemed like forever. I rest my hand on his back and listen to our breaths panting. I ran my fingers through his hair and let this quiet moment sink in.
My eyes open, and I see the ceiling of the living room. I feel something heavy on my chest and something wrapped around my body. I prop my hands against the cushions of the couch and pull myself up. A book slides down to my stomach along with the blanket around me.
I must've fallen asleep reading.
It was late at night. The room was dark except for the lamp I turned on. The sound of the thunder roaring terrified me. I bring my knees up to my chest and sigh. My heart beat level drops, and I refresh myself of the dream. I ran my fingers through hair and rub my scalp as I piece out every moment of the dream. The beautiful dream that was too perfect to be reality.
A week passed, and I waited and I am still waiting. No mail has come back since the last time. And I was getting worried. I was worried about us and about him in general. But I had to have faith that he's alright and will come back.
There was a knock on the door, startling me. My eyes stare at the door, and the door knocks once more. "Open up!" I hear a muffle.
I swing my feet over and step on the ground. I prop myself up and walk to the door groggily. I look through the peephole and see the man from last week. Jitters appear in my stomach. I gasp and turn around.
"If you're hiding, don't," he says as if he could see through the door. "It won't bring you any good."
My eyes widen, and my hands shake, wondering what I should do. I didn't get the money. Liam probably didn't get the letter, but he should have by now. I even try to contact Dinah, Camila, and Lauren, but I couldn't. Sonia hasn't visited me for a while now. Everything at this point was my downfall.
