Chapter 81

Niall and Normani's housewarming party is today. I couldn't wait to see them or their house. It literally feels like it's been a year since I've seen them. I am excited. However, my stomach was growing a pit of caution for some odd reason. But I am choosing to ignore it. I'm not going to worry.

I look out the window and feel Selena slowly pressing on the brake. The landscape in motion slowly came to a stop. Ahead of us, I see a couple of cars parked by the curb and driveway of the house.

My eyes shift to the house across from it, and I see Sonia's house standing and next to it from a far distance was Simon's. Chills run down my spine. It's been too too long. Everything about the house flooded back to me. The pain. The joy. The memories.

Before I know it, Selena parks the car and turns off the engine. I unbuckle my seatbelt as she asks, "Did you take your pill?"

I shake my head. "No, not yet," I answer.

Her brows furrow. She releases a sigh, "Ally, you have to take them in the morning and at night for your health to get better. If you slack, you're causing yourself harm."

I nod my head. "I know. And I will try to do better at remembering, okay?"

Selena nods her head. "Well, did you bring your pills?" she asks.

I nod my head and dig into my purse. I pull out the capsule, and she gives me a look, telling to me take them right now. I scoff lightly and twist the lid off. I shook the capsule against my hand until one pill landed on the palm of my hand. I put the lid back on and toss it back in my purse. I grab a bottle of water and swallow the pill down with the water. I cringe at the bitter taste and steady my breath.

"There," she said. "That wasn't as bad as you thought it would be."

If anything, it was worse. But it was doctor's rules.

Selena unbuckles her seatbelt, and soon, we exit the car. She locks the car and we walk to the front door. I hear the music booming through the stereo and the quiet chatters from the people inside.

I knock on the door two times before Niall opens the door and smiles at me. "Hi, you guys made it," he said.

I smile. "Yeah, I'm sorry we couldn't be here earlier."

"It's alright. As long as you showed up, that's all that matters," he says. He steps aside of the door and gestures his hand for us to come in.

I look at his face and unknowingly examined it. He was quite different than he was last year. More facial hair and more charm, which made me more excited to see others. I couldn't wait to see Normani and Camila and their changes.

Selena taps me on the shoulder, and I turn and face her. "Are you going to enter?" I smile nervously, forgetting about that. I nod my head and gesture my head for her to enter the house first. "Thank you," Selena says. She enters the house.

Niall chuckles. I enter the house and the two of us settle down in the kitchen. "You haven't really change, have you?" He asks, sitting down on the chair. I take the seat next to him.

"Well, I wouldn't say that. I have grown a bit. What's your excuse?" I tease, but I notice he has more maturity in him than before.

"You know, I got married, and now, I am a father," He sassed me.

I scoff lightly, and he chuckles once more. "Why did you bring change up?"

"You look like your old self during our junior year in college," he says. "So alive and living."

"Wait. Has it been seriously years since our Junior year?"

"Well, let's see," he says. "It's March of our Senior year, and the last time I saw you being happy was in March after Jade's incident." I nod my head, remembering that exact moment in my life. "You were dating Liam at the time, and I swear, every time you came back home, you'd always have a smile on your face, and I always wonder what made you so happy, so I can bring the same joy on your face as well. But life had other plans."
