I park in the parking lot of the apartment and rush out of the car. I trot into the building and run up the staircase. I wasn't patient enough to wait for the elevator. I glance from door to door, checking for the apartment number and knock on the door once I found it.

It took me a couple of tries before Ms. Gomez opens the door, speaking, "...now you decide to come back!" Her eyes widen as she acknowledges my presence. "Where's Ally?"

"May I come in?" I ask.

She nods her head yes hesitantly and steps aside. I enter the house, feeling very anxious. "Where's Ally?" she asks once more. I turn around and face her.

"She is alright," I said.

"Are you sure?" she asks, raising a brow at me. "Where have you two been? Gone for almost forty-eight hours."

"Ally is at her father's house, but I'm here because I have questions that I know you have the answers to," I said.

She crosses her arms and rests her eyebrow. "What questions?"

"What happened after I left?" I ask.

She didn't show it, but I knew she was taken by surprise. She turns her head away and asks me to take a seat in the kitchen. I sat down at the dining table, and she sat across from me.

"This is hard to recall," she sighs. "From what Ally told me, it was right after you left that Simon found out about your guys' secret affair. He was furious, whipping Ally until the yardstick snapped into two." My brows furrow, feeling my heart aching. "It was until he found out that Ally and you had done at the lake house, which caused him to shun Ally. He told her to get out of his house by the next morning, so Ally packed her things that very night and left."

"Wait," I interrupt, "she got kicked out of the house?"

Selena nods. The ache in my heart worsen. Breathing didn't seem to be the only problem I have right now. "Yes, she did. Zayn's aunt drove her there and helped her settle down. But once she left, Ally was all alone. She wrote you two letters, hoping you would get them, but by the time you probably got them, she was kicked out that house by the realtor. He would have let her stay if she had given him the necklace you gave her, but she didn't. She walked in the rain and felt broken. She had no where else to go too. But as luck had it, I came across her and saw her on the side of the road. I took her in and helped her out. I suggested her to try out for a play, and she got the part. During practice, she met a guy who was really sweet towards her. He was polite and respectful. They would go on small hangouts by themselves that they claim weren't 'dates'. When it finally came down to him confessing that he liked her, she turned him down. You want to know why?"

"Why?" I was scared to ask but curious at the same time.

"She was waiting on you still. She had high hopes that you were coming back to her. The guy loved her, but because she had only you in her heart, she didn't lose hope on you two reuniting one day. On your anniversary day, you have no idea how depressed she was. She barely talked to anyone that day because it reminded her of you. The one that got away."

My eyes puff, feeling the lump in my throat coming back. I was speechless and angrier at those who tried to hold me back in the UK.

"We got into an argument, and she ended up writing a letter to you. I didn't read it, but it was something very hard for her to write because she passed out after writing it. I kept it here because I didn't trust that you will care to respond since you haven't sent any news about yourself."

"Can I see it? I want to see it," I said urgently.

She nods her head. She stands up from her seat and walks into her room. After a couple of minutes, she walks out and sits back down in her seat, holding an envelope in her hand. "Here. This is it."

She slides the letter to me, and I pick it up. There was nothing written on it. The flap was open, and I pull out the folded paper. My hands tremble, nervous. I unfold the paper and begin reading:

Dear Liam, I don't know how I should begin this, but I just wanted to let you know that I am here, ready for the day that you come back to me. Probably sounds cheesy and desperate, but it's what you're making me. I just had a rough day today. I met a guy a couple weeks ago, and we got along really well. But for him, he saw it more than just a friendship. He asked me if I felt the same way for him, but I didn't. I only love you. I mean, I thought I saw you two times today. And I wanted to believe that you were actually there with me. Even though it's been three months, I'm still disappointed that you haven't replied back, called back, or came back.

I wish you can be here, but I'm not going to be selfish. Do whatever you're doing because I know in my heart that you are waiting as well. It's hard to live without you, but I keep reminding myself that as a days passes, it's a day closer before we finally see each other again.

I can't deny that it's harder to live without you, but I'm doing better. When you come back, I want to know every detail of what happened because I want to see what my love has been up to. I really miss you, and I hope to receive something from you again. Yours only, Ally.

A tear drips from my chin and splashes onto her signed name. I breathe in slowly, grasping the letter in my hands.

"So..." Ms. Gomez begins. "...can you finally answer Ally's questions? Why weren't you there for her? Why did you take this long to finally be with her?"

I wipe my tears and thought of the answers in my head. I should have come sooner.

"Think about what you did," she says.

I am so sorry, but no matter how much I try to apologize, I can't take back what I did. I took advantage of her love for me because of the lies that were whispered in my ears. Ally hates me, and I hate myself. I can't live with myself anymore, knowing that I hurt her. I need to talk to her and make her understand.
