Okay, guys. At this point in the story, I would like to call this chapter an intermission. There's more coming, and I can't for you guys to read it.
Note: It is May in this chapter and the last couple of chapters.
I walk up the stairs carefully, holding a pitcher of water and a glass cup in my hands. I stood before Niall and Normani's soon-to-be room. Normani still resides in her room at the moment, but Niall was in his room, having a high fever. It was worse than yesterday. He barely could stand.
I knock on his door and let him know that it was me. After his confirmation, he lets me enter. His room was tidy. My eyes shift to the empty bowl of soup I had made for him on the tray right beside him. I greet him, and he returns it with a smile. His lips was the same pale color, but his flesh seemed to be more vibrant.
I pour the water into the cup over the nightstand. When it almost fills up to the top, I stop and set the pitcher down. "How are you feeling?" I ask him.
He shakes his slowly. "Okay, I guess," his tone was a little lazy, but it's understandable.
"Here," I said, handing him the drink. He smiles and wraps his hand around the cup and my hand. After a short moment, I release my hand out of his grasp and collect the tray. "I'm going to go set this in the sink and check on Normani," I said.
"Wait," Niall said before I can make any movement. "Are you busy this afternoon?"
I shake my head, remembering the time Liam was leaving. "No," I reply.
Niall creases his brows. "Why? What are you doing?"
I sigh and lift the tray, responding, "Niall, I'm sorry, but that is only my business." I turn around and face the door.
"You're going to see him, aren't you?" Niall asks. I pause and close my eyes, hearing only my heart beat for a second. "Ally, why are you wasting your time with him? He's leaving you behind once he goes back."
"Niall, I'm not going to try to persuade you to understand something you don't want to understand," I reply. "I have my reasons, you know very well. I'm sorry if this bothers you, but it's near the time. I have to go now."
I exit the room without looking back. I feel my entire face redden as I refresh the look on Niall's face and his words. I close the door and lean against it. I shake my head, telling myself that I shouldn't worry much. Liam and our exchange of words last night were the only things that kept me going forward. I bring my hand onto my chest and search for Liam's necklace before remembering what happened. I was nervous to tell Liam that I forgot it at the lake house.
I proceeded and walk down the stairs carefully. In the living room, I see Dinah and Lauren resting on the couch, watching their tv drama. Dinah had a bowl of cherries in her hands. My eyebrows crease, wondering where Camila was. I clear my throat and raise my voice. "Where is Camila?" I ask.
Dinah speaks, staring at the tv and not looking at anything for a second, "She is saying farewell to Zayn at the moment. She's been gone for forty minutes now."
"Fifty!" Lauren corrects.
"Fifty," Dinah corrects herself. "What about you, Lauren?" Dinah asks, slapping Lauren on her thigh.
Lauren scoffs, "What about me?"
"Why aren't you saying goodbye to Louis?" Dinah asks.
"Because I'll see him again when he comes back," Lauren states. "I know he's coming back. If he's not, he has some explaining to do." I nodded along and continue in the kitchen.
