A new school semester means a new beginning. Or at least that's what some people says. There was in no way that I wanted to go to school. Not today.
Selena is paying for my classes and my textbooks, practically covering whatever I need to pay. She has been so generous to me that I have no idea how I can repay the favor. She was my savior from the past months. Whenever I needed help, she was there.
I unbuckle my seatbelt and grab the strap of my backpack. I pull the handle on my door, and before I can open it, Selena raises her voice, "Hey." I face her, and she continues, "Have a good school day."
I smile slightly and reply, "Thank you." I turn back to the door and open it. I place my feet on the cement floor and got out of the car. I wave goodbye to Selena, and she drives away.
It was kind of depressing when she told me that she wasn't coming back to teach. She has been my mentor for a couple years, and she helped me develop as an actress. I'm upset that the new students won't get her because she is amazing. And since she doesn't teach anymore, she's going more into management. It's going to be weird not seeing her in the building.
I sigh and enter the student center. As soon as the door shuts behind me, I hear a familiar voice calling my name, "Allyson Brooke Hernandez."
I shift my eyes to the left and smile when I see Jade, Jesy, Leigh-Anne, and Perrie all walking up to me with big smiles on their faces.
Jade was the first to pull me into a tight hug. She sighs and speaks on my shoulder, "How have you been?"
She pulls back, and I look at all of them. I nod my head and form my fake smile. I answer with, "I've been good. A lot has happened during the summer."
Jade nudges me on the shoulder lightly and comments, "No, duh. You look so beautiful. Right, girls?"
The three nodded their head along. Perrie creases her brows and spoke up, "But you don't look too good. Is there something wrong?"
Jade turns around and talks to Perrie, "Ally looks great. I don't see what you mean," she says. Jade turns back to me. She holds my hands in hers and pulls me away from the door. As we walk, she says, "Now, your hair is so on point. What conditioner are you using?"
I bring my hand up and grasp the tips of my hair. I shrug, not knowing the difference. "I just use one that I bought at the store," I answer.
Jesy chuckles and responds, "Ally, are you waiting for Liam? That's why you look good." All the girls coo, and I grow nervous. I shake my head, denying it.
Leigh-Anna spoke up, pointing at my cheeks, "Look who's blushing by just the mention of his name."
The girls coo once more, and I roll my eyes slightly. We reach the couches in the student center, and we take a seat. However, I was trapped in the middle. Perrie and Jade sat to the right while Leigh-Anne and Jesy sat to the left. Jade and Jesy sat next to me.
"So," Jade begins, "what's the scoop on you and Liam? Are things getting serious?"
I shrug, not knowing. I was embarrass as well. I did not know how to answer them or what to answer them with.
"Come on, it's the first day of school, and we want to catch up on your life," Jesy says.
"Well, what about you guys?" I said. "How was your summer?"
"Good," they all answer in unison as if they had practiced it.
"Now tell us," Jade says.
I sigh heavily and begin explaining. I begin at the time Liam took us to the lake house. I briefly explain our three day adventure, and during this, I try to hold back my tears. Today was going to be emotional, no matter how many times he is brought up in my mind. I transitioned into the next chapter, where I got kicked out, and now, I am living with Selena. I brought up the things Selena has helped me with and concluded to the present.
