"... so Dwayne caresses Michelle's back, holding her tighter than before. Only minutes before their long departure. Michelle fears that she would never communicate nor see Dwayne again—"

"Boooooo!" Liam coos. I shift my eyes off my laptop and look at my phone, where our video chat occurred. He laid in bed with his head resting on the headboard. I cock my head. "You cannot have the hero and heroine not get together. That's completely against the rules of a romance novel."

"Not necessarily," I rebuttal. "I wanted to spice things up a little."

He chuckles, showing the crinkles beside his eyes. "I'm just teasing. It sounds amazing. You should make a short film about it. It would be an amazing movie."

"It's not that good," I said. He raises an eyebrow and give me a skeptical look. "What?"

"You're going to do well, and you should apply this to the Writer's World website. No doubt, someone will want to explore more with it," he says.

I shrug. "It's just a short story."

He nods his head and speaks, "So, how are you spending Christmas?"

"I don't know," I answer. "I'm probably going to bake some cookies and rent some movies for the girls and me to watch. What about you? Are you heading back to the UK?" The thought saddens me.

"Are you alright?" He asks, combing his hair with his fingers. His eyes search for mine through the screen as his eyebrows crease.

"Yeah," I answer shortly, recovering my previous expression.

His eyes ease, and he continues, "To answer your question, no. I'm not. I decided a couple days ago."

"Don't you miss your family?" I ask.

"I do, very much so, but I rather stay here," he replies.

I crease my brows, not understanding why he would not want to go home for the holidays. The holidays is not special unless you're surrounded by the people you love. "Why?"

"I met a girl, and I want to get to know her better," he simply answers, causing me to blush immediately. I don't know how he does it.

"Cheesy," I comment, catching him off guard. "No, I'm just kidding. I'm honored to be a reason, but I hope I'm the only reason."

He states within a chuckle, "You would think but that's that. I really want to know more about you." My lips form a smile. "And I hope to spend Christmas with you."

"I'm hoping to as well," I reply. "Maybe I can come over, and we can watch a movie. Like Elf or Rudolph. I love both movies."

"Perfect," he replies with a grin.

I open my mouth, but the sound of the door opening sends chills running down my spine. My breath became inconsistent, and I panicked. I shut my phone down without ending the call and look towards the door. Dinah pops her head out, and I release a breath of air.

"It's just you," I mumble, touching my heart.

Dinah frowns, closing the door behind her. "Sorry, but I need to talk to you," she says.
