Christmas was around the corner, but school was still in session.
My eyes shift to the clock hanged above the smart board of the classroom. Five minutes takes a long time. I sigh, closing my notebook and textbook. The teacher's voice became audible once more.
"And we will have a test next Wednesday," she says.
I nod my head along and cover my mouth with my hand. I yawn and take a lock of hair and place it behind my ear.
"You guys are dismiss,"
I slowly rise while some of the students shot up and charge for the door. I place my textbook and notebook in my backpack and carry it on my back.
"Ally," Ms. Grande says, walking up to me.
I look at her and reply, "Yes?"
"How has your short story come along?" she asks.
"It's getting there," I said. "I haven't have much time to work on it, but when I do, I always get writer's block."
"I feel you," she says. "I just want to make sure you're not slacking like most students. In fact, some of them turned their in early, but I'm sure they will get the grade they deserve by the amount of time and effort they put into it."
"Is that all?" I ask.
She nods her head and replies, "Yes, you may go."
I smile at her and exit the classroom. I walk to the cafeteria and grab a tray and a plate. I turn over to the fruits and pancake section and shake my head. My stomach was craving for something different. I walk over to the sandwich section and ensemble my own sandwich made with lettuce, cheese, toast, turkey, mayo, tomato, and mustard. On the side, I place a bowl of yogurt. I lift my tray and walk to the dining side. I set my tray next to Dinah and sit down on the chair.
"Ooh, yogurt and a sandwich," Dinah coos, getting Niall and Normani's attention. "What happened to pancakes and fruits?"
"I wanted to try different things," I state.
"Right," Normani sassed.
"It's true," I said.
Dinah lowers down to my ear and whispers, "Is it because of Liam?"
I smile at the mention of his name. I turn to her and say, "No," I said, although a part of me feel like she was correct. "It's not because of—" Dinah taps me on the shoulder, gesturing her eyes on someone behind. I turn around and see Liam with his tray. "Liam," I said.
"Do you mind if I take a seat?" he asks.
I open my mouth, but before I can speak, Niall answers for me, "Yes." I dart my eyes on Niall as his were staring at Liam's. "We do mind."
"Niall," Dinah begins, "Liam was asking Ally, not you."
"Doesn't matter," Niall grits his teeth.
"It's alright," Liam says. I turn to him and see him beginning to walk away.
"No," I said, stopping him from going any further. "You can sit with us."
"You sure?" He questions. I nod my head as a response. He smiles and sits down beside me.
I shift my eyes back on Niall and see him giving Liam a small death glare. I crease my brows, wondering what he probably is thinking. In his mind, he must be questioning me, asking himself why I would let Liam join us when he told me a couple days ago to be cautious of Liam. And I want to tell him, but I got scared. Scared of getting punish. Scared because I disobeyed Simon. Just the mention of getting punish sends chills running down my lower back.
