"Waffle House, here I come," I mumble as I take step out of the car. Waffle House was only just a few feet away.
Liam got our his video camera and records me walking. "I'm so excited," I said to Liam and the camera as we walk to the entrance. "I haven't had Waffle House for a while. And my stomach is prepared to be filled with their delicious food."
"Good," Liam comments. "I hope they allow cameras."
"They probably do, but are you seriously going to record me eat? Because it is not pretty," I said, followed by a chuckle.
"I think you're cute when you eat," he says, and I blush.
I turn away from the camera and stood in front of the entrance. I grab the handle and pull the door open. I let Liam enter first, but even as he is in front of me, he walks backward just to record me walking.
I roll my eyes playfully and walk into a booth. I set my purse down to the side as Liam takes a seat in front of me. A waiter comes to our table and hands us the menus. "Hello, how are you two today?"
"Fine," I reply.
"Great," Liam says.
"Okay, I will come back for your orders in a bit," he says.
He walks off, and I consume in the sweet, savory smell of the restaurant. Memories flooded back to my childhood. There were multiple times my parents would cheer me up by bringing me to Waffle House. I always love going here and meet the friendly employees.
I look at Liam and says, "When I was little, every time I was upset, my parents would bring me to Waffle House. And I always remember them trying to make it special. And everything was peaceful." My voice cracks at the end. I feel the palms of my hand getting cold, and I try to warm them up.
"Hey," Liam says, softly. "I'm here when you're ready to talk about it."
I smile. "Thank you," I mumble. In time, maybe I'll tell him.
"Are you ready to order?" Liam asks.
"Yes," I said. I place my elbows on the table and lock my fingers. "You know what's funny? It's Waffle House, but I don't get the waffles. I don't remember the last time I actually got a waffle from Waffle House." His lips form into a small smirk as he gives me a questionable look. I explain, "I get the bacon, egg sandwich on Texas toast because I was born in Texas. And a side of hash down. That's all it takes to fill my stomach and my heart of food. It's delicious. And when I say it's delicious..." I form an okay sign and raise it.
His eyes lighted up while he gazed at me with amusement.
"What?" I ask.
"Do you ever see yourself and the way your eyes light up when you talk about something your passionate about? Or just the way your eyes light up when you look at something. It can definitely tell that you love it," he explains. "I wish you could see the sparks in your eyes. It's electrifying. And the smile that your lips form. It's purity."
I blushed hardcore. I cover my cheeks, but how was I suppose to hide it? His words left me astonished. And the way his eyes lighted up. Did that connect to what he was saying? It's too early for him to make me feel this way, but I'm not complaining. I practically feel the same way when it comes to him. I see the way he talks about his grandmother. How everything is different when he mentions her. That right there was love.
"May I take your orders?" The waiter asks. I blink my eyes a couple of times, processing his presence.
Liam and I exchange looks before he speaks up for the two of us. "Two bacon egg sandwiches with a side of hash brown. And waffles."
