From the distance, I hear footsteps coming towards me. I raise my head, hoping it would be Normani, but see Liam, wearing a jacket, standing in front of me. He bends down to my height and holds his hand out. I shake my head, not ready for another conversation.
"Ally, what happened?" he asks.
I shake my head, trying to push the last couple of minutes out of my head. "Nothing," I reply.
"Let me help you get up," he offers.
"I got it," I said. I pull myself up and stand on my feet. Liam stands up beside me and takes off his jacket, revealing his shirt to the rain.
"You're going to get sick," he says, wrapping his jacket around me, but I push his hands away along with the jacket. He holds the jacket in his hands.
"I'm fine," I said, feeling my head aching a little.
"Now's not the time to be stubborn," he says. "It's not good to be out in the rain when you're stress."
—
My eyes flutter as I recall that rainy day. Normani had me mixed up with Niall that day. That was also the day Liam confronted me about my distance from him.I wish I can go back to that time, where his love for me was genuine. Or was it? He's been trying to get me ever since we met, so he must have set it up beforehand.
I rest on my back and see Normani and Camila enter the room. "Rise and shine," Camila says, perky.
"You've got a doctor's appointment in two hours," Normani says.
"What?" I question. "This early?"
"Yes, Dr. Spears is coming over to check on you," Normani says.
"Why? I'm perfectly fine," I lie. "I don't need a checkup."
"It's not just a checkup," Normani says, getting serious. "We want to know if there's anything permanently wrong."
I nod my head slightly and drift my eyes to the window. I lift my arms slowly, feeling gravity pulling me down harder than usual. I prop my hands against the mattress and try to lift myself up. Normani and Camila notice, and they walk to my side. They aid me, and I sat up with my head rested against the headboard.
"Is there anything else we can do?" Normani asks.
I shake my head. "No. But thank you. Can, um..." I swallow, "...I would like to be alone, please."
Camila frowns, and Normani sighs and nods her head. Her sympathy was comforting. Before anything, Lauren and Dinah walk in. Lauren carries a tray fill with food in her hands while Dinah holds a cup of water. My brows crease, curious. "What are you guys doing?"
"We made your favorite!" Dinah exclaims.
Lauren adds, "You haven't eaten anything yesterday, so we cook you some breakfast. We made our own version of Waffle House. We hope you enjoy."
They set the main dish on my lap. I lower my eyes and saw the bacon egg sandwich with a side of hash-brown. My lips quiver, feeling my stomach emptier than before. My emotions suppress my hunger. I wet my lips and reply, "I'm not hungry."
"Ally, you need to eat," Normani says.
I swallow and push pass the lump in my throat. "I can't," I respond.
"Why not?" Lauren questions. "It's your favorite."
I dart my eyes on them. "I don't feel like eating this."
"Why?" Dinah questions.
I seal my lips and lower my eyes, wishing I can answer them. But my memories haunted me. The lump in my throat grew, and my eyes puff.
