If you guys don't recall, in the beginning of this chapter, Liam and Ally are face chatting with one another from Chapter 57.

Liam's POV

"Is everyone asleep? You're talking louder than usual when we video chat," I point out as I speak to Ally through the phone. All I can see on her side is her angelic face in a dark room. The light from her phone highlighted her face. Her eyes glisten a little with tears, but I'm sure she was trying to hold them back for some reason.

"Yeah," she said. "Everyone is sleeping except for me. I wanted to check on you before I go to bed."

"That's sweet of you," I smile. Suddenly, I hear three knocks at the door and shift my eyes to it. I turn back to the screen and said, "I'm sorry. I have to go. Good night, and sweet dreams."

"Y-I mean, hope you have a good day," she says.

The door swings open, and I sit up, seeing my mom entering the room with Lucinda, one of our servants. "Liam James Payne, what are you doing in bed still!" she lectures. "Lennon and Rita are coming over," I turn off my phone as she continues, "so you and your friends better be up and prepare. You should look well for them."

"Mum," I begin, "Why are they coming over?"

"It's been a year," she says. "They missed you, especially Lennon. She says that she is heartbroken from missing you. She misses you and fears that you might get your mind whooped by some American girl."

"Mum, about that, I have something to tell you," I said, feeling my stomach churning already.

Her brows crease, and she knew it was something she was not going to like. Therefore, she turns her head away and ignores my statement, "Now, better get cleaned up by nine. Lennon and Rita are coming here before we head to the funeral."

She begins to walk away until I call out, "Wait, mum," I said. She turns around and looks at me. "Did grandma say anything about me before she...um..."

She smiles and answers, "She says that she loves you dearly. You will forever be in her heart just like how she will forever be in yours."

I smile, holding back my tears. I can feel my eyes puffing though. "Mum, I love you and miss you. Just in case you didn't know that."

She takes a step closer and runs her fingers through my hair. "My boy, I love you too." She kisses my temple and exits the room shortly.

I uncover the sheets and walk into the bathroom. I wash my face and put on a polo shirt and blue jeans. I comb my hair and trot downstairs. I enter the dining room and see Zayn and Louis already seated by the dining table. I take a seat next to Zayn and greet my dad, who sat at the head of the table. "Hi, dad," I said.

"Hey, Liam," he greets back. "How was school?"

"Great," I answer. "I had a lot of fun living with Zayn's aunt." My mom enters the room and sits across from me. "We had great neighbors. In fact, one of our neighbors was the guy who was in charge of the school."

"That's good," my dad says.

"Oh, my," my mother speaks, touching her heart. Her eyes shifted to my hand on the table. "Where did you get that glorious watch? It is so beautiful."

I look at the gold watch she was referring too: the one Ally bought me for Christmas. The gold glistened in my eyes, and I smile.

"Was it a gift?" My mom asks.

"Yes it was," I reply. "Actually, Mum, the one who bought me this is—"

Her eyes turn away to the two women who entered the dining room. "Hi!" my mom interrupted.
