Three days passed. Everything was quiet. There was no one to talk to nor much entertainment. Only the music of my phone brought me joy.
I sit at the table in the kitchen, playing with the same food from the past couple of days. My stomach had enough of it. My stomach has had enough the same things. I barely could swallow.
I was so used to noises, either from Dinah singing, Sofia playing her violin, or Niall and our mini talks. Hearing everything be silent except my own mind was different. I didn't know whether I liked it or not.
The only thing that brought great joy was music and the sound of the lake. It kept me at peace. I would want to be somewhere this peaceful my entire life. The way the water soothes my soul, and the light warms me up is refreshing.
The sound of the door knocking made me flinch. I stood from my seat and walk to the door. I turn the knob and open the door. My eyes widen a little, happy and surprise to see Sonia. "Hi," I greet.
"Hey, Ally," she greets. "I just came to drop off some of your things. I didn't know if you want it or not. And I couldn't call."
My eyes lower down to her hands, and I see her holding an envelope and a familiar bag.
"Do you want to come in?" I ask.
Sonia shakes her head. "I would love to, but I have to get to work," she says.
"Oh," I mumble. "Well, Thank you for visiting."
Sonia smiles and hands me the envelope and bag. I set them down on the closest couch and turn back to her.
"I'll see you," Sonia says, waving her hand at me. I wave back, and before I could respond, she turns around and walks to her car.
I close the door and rest my back against the door for a moment as a the pounding in my chest grew noticeable. I take in a moment and steady my deep breaths. The silence did help me concentrate on my own breathing. This has happened in the past two days. Randomly, I would get a sharp pain in my chest, and my legs would get numb.
Another knock on the door makes me jump, and I open the door. A man, in his late twenties, wearing a navy jumpsuit stood in front of me. "Are you the owner of the house?" he asks.
I crease my brow and nod my head. "Y-yes."
"We need your money," he says.
"I'm sorry?" I ask.
He rolls his eyes and smacks his hand against the door. "Listen, lady. I've already been through this too many times. Do I have to explain it to you?"
"I'm sorry, sir, but I have no idea what you are talking about," I reply.
He raises his hands in the air and waves them within the quotes, "Okay if 'I' have to 'explain' it to 'you', then 'listen' very closely." He sets his hands down and crosses his arms, looking sternly at me. "It's end of the month. You have to pay us your monthly due."
My mind circles back to what Liam told me before he left. He told me that he was going pay monthly since the house isn't fully his yet. My eyes widen, realizing the problem. "Sir, how much do I exactly owe you?"
