I walk in a cold dark room with no light. No electricity. Everything was pitch black. I only hear my own footsteps as I walk.
The echoes were the only thing that was responding back. I stop in my tracks and close my eyes. I listen closely to the sound of my heart beating. I open my eyes and turn my head to my right. There, I see Liam glowing and standing next by me. Our hands locked tight.
I smile and hug his bright light. He chuckles and hugs me back, brushing my hair and rubbing my back. "Liam," I said. "I thought you would never be here."
"Why would you think a crazy thing like that?" My heart flutters, hearing his beautiful accent.
I pull apart from him and adjust his hand in mine. I held our hands up to my chest and look up at him. I can feel my own breathing coming from the darkness, but I ignore it. "Where have you been?"
He smiles lightly and caresses my cheek softly. Our eyes meet deeply once more. "I'm sorry," he says. "I failed you."
My brows furrow. "What?" I question.
"I hope to meet you one last time," Liam says.
I feel my heart pounding faster and faster. "Liam, what are you saying? You're—you're scaring me."
My loud breathing interrupts our eye contact. I look out to the darkness and wonder what was happening.
"Allyson," he says. I shift my eyes back on him. "Fight. Fight for us. Fight for you."
"What are you talking about?" I ask.
His hands loosen, and I struggle to keep a grip on him. A force pushes us away from one another, but I hold on as tight as possible.
"Liam," I mumble.
"Ally," he replies. The air knocks him off his feet, and I drop my jaw, breathing inconsistently. "I love yo—" His voice roams throughout as he is ripped out of my grasp.
I cry out his name, shouting it at the top of my lungs, "Liam!"
My eyes slowly open up to an unfamiliar ceiling. From the smell, I knew I was laying in the hospital. In the corner of my eyes, I catch a glimpse of Selena, sitting with red teary eyes. She sniffs and turns away from me. She wipes her visible tears off her face. "What's going on?" I ask groggily.
Selena shifts her sight back on me and answers, "Nothing. You just fainted, Ally." Her eyes were puffed and red.
"Fainted?" I question, not remembering anything before I blacked out.
"You also hit your head when you fell down," she adds.
I lean forward, instantly feeling a shock on the side of my head. I yelp and laid back down against the mattress. Just then, I remember what I did before I fainted. I look Selena and ask, "My letter? Did you—"
"I sent it," she nods her head, and I smile. "I didn't read it though. And I made sure I wrote down the right address."
"Thank you," I said. I look at the redness in her eyes and furrow my brows. "What's wrong?"
Selena sighs and rests her hands on my arm, massaging it lightly. "The doctor informed me of some news after they took you to the ER. They said that you were stress. That's why you fainted. Your mind, body, and heart were beginning to tear down, and it could leave to some painful inflictions that I don't want you to experience." My heart sinks at her explanation. She continues, "Ally, the only way you can beat this is to stay strong and healthy: physically, mentally, and emotionally."
