I slowly brush my hair as I stare at my own reflection. My bored eyes complimented my straight lips. I don't know why I haven't been happy lately. Everything was just there and bland. Even school got worse. Life was just dull at the moment. But the good news is that Jade and I are on good terms, and Jesy is getting her mental health back quicker than expected. They both are hanging out with Leigh-Anne and Perrie, which I think they make a good squad. It's a little mix up from the usual, but I like it.
I set my hairbrush down and observe my outfit with my straight hair that I've been going with lately. I didn't like curling it anymore. It just didn't feel like me after a while. I wore a nice light blue blouse with black shorts. Nothing too fancy. I feel like wearing something easy for the date.
Liam wanted to tell me some exciting news, and I really hope that brings my spirit up. I couldn't wait to see him, even though I've hesitated multiple times to call the date off. I just didn't really feel comfortable sneaking out of the house, and Liam is only here until the semester is over. Then, he will resume his life without me. So, I want to spend ever second that I can with him.
Simon isn't home; he's been continuing this trend for a while now. It's either he's out for the school, watching over Sofia, or doing some other business work. He's never really been this busy before, and not that I don't want to complain - I know he's a hard worker - but I wish he would spend some more time with us. I feel so distant from him now with all the troubles I have done this school year.
I'm not entirely upset with Camila and Dinah. I know they didn't know what happened. If they did, they would have told him that, but I still can't get over the fact that they almost told him. It scares me to know how Simon will find out, and something tells me that it's going to be soon.
However, I remain calm. I shouldn't worry about that. Stay in the present and live in the moment is the best choice for me. My phone vibrates on the counter, and I pick it up. A new message from Liam pops up in my notification. I slide and unlock the screen. I read his message: Be ready in five. I'm coming over.
I text back, Okay.
I grab my handbag and walk out the door. I walk down the stairs and rush into the kitchen where I meet Lauren standing at the dining table. She gave me testy eyes. "Where are you going?" she asks me, slumping into a seat.
"Um... Liam and I are going to see Jade, just to check on her," I answer.
She sighs and locks her fingers on her knees. "Let's cut the chit chat. I know about your little secret affair and neighbor boy P." I can feel my face fall. My eyes lower to the ground. "Now, I don't know why you're lying to dad, but I have my ideas. And I say the quicker you tell him, the better your chances are."
"So does this mean..."
"Yes," Lauren read my mind. "I won't tell him. But I won't keep this secret for a long time as well. I will give you until the end of the semester. By then, I hope you've told him."
With only two weeks left of the semester, there wasn't much time for confrontation. Final exams are close by, and I need to study. But I guess, I can tell him before he and Sofia leave for DC, which is the week after finals.
"I will," I tell her.
She nods her head and eyes away from me. "I never saw a thing," she says, and I smile.
"Thank you, and I'll see you when I come back," I said. I exit the house and stood out in front of the door as Liam pulls up the curb.
I walk to car and open the door. "Good evening, sweetheart," he greets with a warm smile, wearing a white button up shirt and black dress pants.
