"Liam, you let me down now," I said.

He sighs and shakes his simultaneously. "No, I'm fine," he said, breathless.

"You've been carrying me for what seems like hours," I point out. "Night is already close by. The stars are in the sky already."

"The clouds are covering the stars," he remarks.

"Well, it's still dark enough." I said.

He nods his head and finally sets me down on the ground. My ankle shake a little but adjusted to my weight. We stood by a tree, near a cabin. Liam says, "Let's see if there's anyone there. Maybe they will let us stay for the night."

I cringe a little. It seemed pretty sketchy to me. I mean, what if the cabin is filled with ghosts or worse, demons? What if there's a maniac living there? But the cabin doesn't look too old. The windows seem like they have been clean not too long ago. Maybe, I'm wrong?

Liam holds onto my arms - my self-conscious self jumped at the touch of his skin into my moist sleeves - and leads me to the cabin slowly. We arrive in a few seconds. Liam knocks on the door. Less than three seconds, the door opens and reveals an elderly woman. She had white hair, but if she didn't, you could definitely think she was in her twenties.

"May I help you?" she asks.

"Yes, we need a place to stay for the night," Liam answers.

She shifts her eyes on one of us each time. "Are you two together?" she questions.

I immediately shake my head and open my mouth to speak, but Liam pulls me closer to him and speaks before me, "Yes, we are married." My eyes shift to him. His eyes meets mine, and he nods as if it was part of a plan. I nodded along and turn back to the elder woman.

"Well, then, come in," she said. She steps back and widens the doorway.

Liam helps me enter the cabin. As we pass the doorway and into her kitchen, my eyes immediately take notice of the dim lighting in the house. There were only a few light bulbs from the lamps that were place throughout. There was only two doors in the kitchen: one on the adjacent wall and one on the opposite. The table was wooden. The floor had some crumbles of bread and meat scattered.

"I'm sorry for the mess," the elder said. "It's my son. He'll be back soon. I will be setting up your room, and afterwards, you two may join us for some dinner. Is there anything you would like for me to get you?" The elder smiles at us.

Liam rests his hand on my shoulder and replies, "Not at the moment, but thank you anyway."

"You guys may rest in the kitchen. I will bring you something comfortable to wear," she said, walking to the door

Before she could open it, I said, "Thank you so much. And if you need any help, we'll be right here."

She smiles and proceeds to enter the room. I take a seat on the chair by the table. Liam sits besides me and sighs heavily. He ran his fingers through his moist hair, streaming some water off.

There was nothing but complete silent between us. It wasn't an awkward silence but more like peaceful or relaxed. I wasn't sure on what it was, but it motivated me to speak up, "So, how did you come to my rescue?"

"I was driving back home, but I had to get gas for my car," he explains. "And then I dropped Jade off at her house."

"Oh," I smile halfly. Figures that he would. "So, how are you two doing?"

"Two?" He questions. "Jade and I are not dating."

"Right? So you're both friends with benefits," I said.
