Why?

As soon as we heard a knock on the door, the both of us made eye contact and froze. The cops couldn't have made it here that quick right?
"Shit, what do we do now?" I whispered as she suddenly signaled me to be quiet as she went to the door slowly.

Before she turned the knob to open it, she looked at me. "Whatever you do, just don't tell them the truth. They can't know anything." She glared me in the eyes, making her words meaningful and serious. "Okay." I nodded as I looked at the door, waiting to see a person in uniform to come in. What if the truth slips out? Then what? Am I gonna continue to lie then?

She opened the door and came in was a doctor. This time it was a different doctor as they came in without a word, confusing the hell out of both of us.
At the exact same time, Me and Taylor exchanged looks at each other and back at the doctor. "Excuse me?" She went over to the doctor that was checking the blinds at the window.
"Who are you?" She asked with a bit of sternness in her voice.

The doctor stopped scanning out the window and looked at her before taking off their blue mask and hat, making both of us gasp instantly. "Xavier?!" I yelled with my eyes widen.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Taylor snapped at him by going closer towards him.

He didn't say anything as we all heard noises outside. After the noise died down, he opened his mouth to speak.
"Saving the both of you before they get here." He finally responded, making me raise my eyebrows.
"Who are they?" I asked, earning silence from the both of them.

Taylor looked at me and then back at Xavier. "The people we work for..." "Well used to." She added the second part. What does she mean used to?
"The cops are probably already halfway here and this is gonna get ugly real fast if we don't come up with a plan and get the hell out of here."

"Already on it. I stole one of these uniforms and threw this on without anyone noticing."

"I would say impressive but what does that have to do with us escaping here?" Taylor crossed her arms at him.
He looked at her and gave her a smirk before he pulled something out of his pocket and opened it up.
"This is the map of the hospital. Here," He laid out the map on the end of the bed, pointing at the circled area. "This is where we are now, and I've made a path from here all the way to an exit. Now I'm not sure what's exactly gonna come out of this but I was thinking that I put you in a wheelchair and pose as a doctor taking a patient somewhere in the hospital when really I will be just taking you right to the exit." He explained, and then looked at Taylor.
"Your job is to hack the security cameras long enough for me to get towards the exit." "Here's the keys to the truck I have parked right infront of it. I have a mic in my ear so I can hear you from the truck." He pointed to his right ear to show us.

Taylor didn't say a word as she looked at him hesitantly before grabbing the keys from him. I wonder what was that about. "Alright, lets go." "I'll let you know once I'm in." Taylor told him as she walked towards the door. Shortly leaving after.

I looked at Xavier as he put his hat and mask back on. "Where the hell have you been? And this is like the second time you've popped up while I'm in the hospital." I looked at him with my arms crossed. He's no longer the Xavier I knew back at school. He's changed a whole lot and I wanna know why. "Following you, of course. You and your sister's life is in danger. There are a lot threats coming after you guys."

I rose my eyebrows. "Threats? F-From who?" I asked, desperate for answers.

He sighed and gave me a look that he didn't want to tell me. "The people that wants your parents dead." He mumbled, making my eyes wide as much as possible. "Wait, they're still alive?" My eyes lit up afterwards.
"If I tell you, would stop looking for them?" He asked me as I snapped my head up at him in confusion. "You want me to stop looking for my parents?" I repeated in disbelief. "Why? Do you know where they are?" I suddenly asked.
"Yes.........and they're safe."

I couldn't help but put a smile on my face after hearing what he just told me about my parents. I felt somewhat relief knowing that they were still alive and that he knew where they were. "But.....they're lives are in more danger than you are because of what they've done in the past. Which is why it's better off that you and Leah keep your distance from them. They're the reason why your life is the way it is now."
"Xavier.........I-I don't care how scary this whole situation is or how it's gonna end, I need to see them. Whether they want us back or not, I want to. I wanna know what they hell they did and why they did it so I'm not stopping until I get those answers." "And if you keep searching for those answers you're gonna end up dead." He replied as he took the wires off of me and carefully lowered my leg that still hurt like hell. "And what if I don't?"

He sighed deeply.

"Audrey. What you need to do right now is recover, reunite with your sister and focus on graduating like I am. Once you graduate and go away to college, it'll put your life in less danger for now."
"What if I don't wanna go to college?" I crossed my arms. "Then you're sister would be very disappointed in you."
"Well it's my decision." I shrugged with a sarcastic smile.

He nodded and and slightly shook his head before touching his ear.
"What school are you at now?-"
"Shh." He cut me off as he looked at me, pressing his finger into his ear so he could hear Taylor more.

"Okay, you're in?" He asked as he opened the door slightly.
"Alright, go ahead and hack the security cameras, you know the drill."

He took his finger from his ear and gave me a nod as he came over to me.
"Let's do this."
