———————"Are you sure you're ready to go back?" Leah turned to ask me as we pulled infront of the school's side doors.
The car came to a complete stop, and I looked around to see Hailey standing by the side doors waving at me, I returned the wave and turned my attention back to Leah....I had told them yesterday evening that I would be returning back today and to also let my teachers know as well to, so that my entrance wouldn't be all too dramatic......Even though, it's been quite a while, it feels like I haven't been here in ages...
"Yeah, it's now or never....I-I really don't have a choice at this point.....I have to go back.....or else I don't graduate on time....." I shrugged as I unbuckled my seatbelt, swinging one of the handles on my backpack and onto my shoulder.
She looked at me for a little longer and sighed, rubbing her temples before nodding.
"You know what, you're right. It's just——if you take a look back......Lately, I've haven't been doing my job as a big sister.......I keep failing at protecting you." She pointed towards my leg, making me roll my eyes and turn my body towards her."Leah, stop it. Don't even go down that lane. For the record you are doing your job at being my big sister......things may have gotten out of control but it's not your fault so stop blaming yourself.." She exhaled once again and started taking deep breaths.
"Okay, you're right." She nodded.
I leaned in to give her a big hug and soon let go before I opened the car door, reaching behind the seat to grab my crutches.
"Have a good day, love you. Stay safe, please?" I heard her say as I hopped on my non wounded leg with a small groan.
"Love you too. And I will....I promise.." I turned around after closing the door and, walking towards the side doors. She sat there for a few more seconds before pulling off and disappearing.
"It's good to have you back, Audrey." Hailey smiled as she walked up towards my direction to hug me.
"Yeah it is......I had to come back or repeat my senior year so....here I am." I shrugged with a smile. She nodded in response.
"How you been holding up? You know........ever since..." She trailed off her sentence as we slowly walked to the doors.
"I've been alright..........things have been chill and I'm so thankful for that........but I keep thinking about the next time something bad is gonna happen and it ends up being worse.." I said as we entered the double doors. As we began at the start of the hallway where mainly where everyone was, I was prepared for the amount of stares I was gonna have and all the questions I was gonna also receive.
I knew this was destined to take place so I practiced some of the answers I had in mind over and over.Whispers and the flash of shockness on bunch of faces were being made throughout the whole hallway. Hm, I guess they thought I wasn't coming back. Apparently they thought wrong. "Don't pay attention them." Hailey told me as we turned the familiar corner that led to my locker....
"I won't. They just all need to mind their own damn business anyways..."I mumble to myself as we walked up to Nick and Connor. They didn't even notice us until we got a bit closer.
"Heyyy, welcome back Washington." Connor smirked and was about to hug me when I paused at the name he gave me.
He cleared his throat, "Sorry, I forgot." He apologized, making me chuckle. "It's cool.""Thank god you're back........there's too many people around here that admire you so damn much that they're trying to act like you now...." Nick told me, making me raise and eyebrow after I gave him a hug.
"Admire me? I grinned. "And who would that be?" I asked as I put my combination in to open my locker."Ava.." I suddenly heard the three of them all say at the same time, making me turn towards the doors by the cafeteria.
It was Ava coming in with......some sort of Hollywood style type of...clothing. Walking beside on each side was two girls I've never seen before until now, copying her walk as everyone stared down the three as they went down the hall.
"What the hell is this? Another movie of Mean Girls?" I laughed as I turned back towards my locker.
"It kind of is to be honest............one day they tried to steal our lunch table but Hailey wasn't having it." Nick said as everyone went back to what they were doing."Really? What'd you do or say?" I asked Hailey as I laid my crutches on the locker next to mine and began taking things out of my backpack.
"Well at first I politely asked her to move. Twice, actually. And apparently that day she must've been high or didn't speak English for that moment so I got up in her face and gave her a few words of my own and then she smartly got up with her little posse and moved." She shrugged, making me shake my head at her.I checked the time on the clock a little further down the hall and it was almost time for home room so I opened up my locker and was about to stuff my backpack in there after I grabbed everything I needed, until I saw my phone on the top shelf.
"I forgot I left this here." I chuckle to myself, remembering why I let it here in the first place. Lately I've been too busy to even take about a phone and plus, Ace hooked everyone up with new phones so I didn't need to keep this any longer. After I took off my jacket, I stopped what I was doing and started looking around at every photo I had of Me and Mia..
Warning: Flashback..
Arriving at the school, I got off the bus practically speed walking towards the building with my hair bouncing, bumping people's shoulders on the way. My fists were balled all the way up, and my face was as angry as it could ever get. I was furious. And I knew what I was about to do was something I was gonna instantly regret but I am done.
With that, I swung one of the doors open a bit too hard, making it swing back against the wall with a loud bang. Making most of the people turn their heads in my direction as I continued to speed walk down the hall. Some looked frightened and others followed me to see what was going to happen, pulling out their phones starting to record. They can do whatever the hell they want, I don't even care anymore. I stopped caring long time ago.
Looking around, I finally turned the familiar corner and seen her with her back facing me while she talked with Nick. Behind Nick was Connor as he was currently occupied on his phone, and Hailey was next to him. None of them saw me, and I knew once again that regret was gonna come at me as soon as I do what I'm about to do. Or......maybe not.
Walking up to them, I had my eyes glued on the back of Mia's head. They all seemed to notice as they looked up at me. Connor looked at me in a confused, yet worried expression trying to figure out why was I speeding towards them.
By the time I made it to them, Mia turned around and I took my chance, punching her in the face. It may have not been hard enough but it was enough to make her jerk back from the sudden outburst.
"Damnn!!" Some people yelled in unison. Getting hyped up from what they just saw. Coming closer to see what else is going to happen.
"I overheard your conversation with Taylor last night, you backstabbing bitch!" I gritted through my teeth as Connor went to hold me back, while Nick held her away from me as well....End of Flashback...
I suddenly came back to reality and looked inside the mirror of my locker. I immediately rubbed my eyes when I realized a tear was threatening to fall. I shook my head in anger as I grabbed every photo of me and her, instantly shredding them into pieces. All the shreds of the photos flew to the ground and I didn't bother to look down at them.
I put my phone back onto the top shelf and closed the locker shut before turning the lock.
"Let's go."
