PREVIOUS CHAPTER..."Here." He said as we stopped infront of the door number 242.
He backed away and allowed me to go in first but I stopped my hand from turning on the door handle.
I closed my eyes for a few seconds as my heart began to race. Inside my head, there were voices in my head telling me to open it. But others were saying don't.
"Go ahead Leah."I turned to look at him before I nodded and took a deep breath before I turned the door handle and opened the door, walking inside.
---------
I slowly walked further into the room and stared at the empty bed that sat right infront of our eyes with the wires beeping on the floor.
"She's not here." Tyler stated the obvious, making me slowly turn to glare at him.I rolled my eyes and scoffed as I ran to the window to see if I could see anything. When I moved the curtain to the side, I opened the blinds to see what seemed to be a doctor struggling to carry a patient to a truck....
Wait a minute..
My eyes widened in shock
"There she is!" I yelled, pushing Tyler out of the room so we can get down there before they pull off.
"Everyone back into the trucks, we've found them. Jay and Issac start up your trucks and have the doors open and ready for us to get in. We're gonna have to chase them." Tyler quickly demanded as we continued to sprint down the hallway.Once we got down the hall, I pressed the down button and quickly turned my head back and forth until my eyes landed on a door that read stairs.
"Come on, we're taking the stairs. We have no time to waste." I shouted as I took off in the direction.
I carelessly ran down the stairs with Tyler right behind me and jumped from the last four, opening the door for us.
Yes, I used to play sports back in high school if you haven't guessed yet. When we walked further down towards the exit, we stopped dead in our tracks once we saw two policemen come in, talking to each other on their way in.
"Just walk past and don't make eye contact with them." Tyler instructed as we walked at a normal pace since they were standing at the receptionists desk. "Okay." I mumbled as my mind still remained on that truck that may be gone by now."Right and what room is she and her sister in?" One of the officers asked the lady, making my eyes go a bit wide at Tyler as we passed them. Before the lady answered them she took a glance behind them and looked at us, making the two officers turn around.
The two of us instantly turned our heads forward and sped up until we touched the doors. "Excuse me, ma'am?" We heard the lady call out to us but we had already walked out and sprinted towards the truck that was a few feet away from us.
"Faster." I shouted at Tyler as we picked up our pace, looking at the truck that we saw Audrey get in.
"Go, go, go!" Tyler's deep voice demanded, making Jay stomp on the gas pedal as we sped out of the parking lot to follow them.I didn't bother to put a seatbelt on as I sat in the middle with Eason and Ace on both sides of me. I sat up in the seat as I watched Jay make a sharp turn. I gripped the two seats and started praying that we didn't crash into anything or anyone. That's the last thing I wanted to happen. "They're making another turn here." I eagerly announced as I saw the right taillights began to blink.
We turned right, and I instantly remembered that this was one of the streets we came down on our way to the hospital.
Speaking of hospitals, what was Audrey doing there as a patient? What the hell happened?-you know what, nevermind. I can't think about what or who caused her to be there, I just needed to see her at the moment and that's all that really matters right now.
"Wait, slow down......there's a police cruiser sitting right there." Eason told Jay, making him press on the brakes a little. Shit.
"Just wait until we pass them and then we can pick up the speed again, if we get pulled over. It's over with."
