---------"What happened with you and Morgan last night. I heard a little bit of yelling while me and Lexi was talking, and you left out and didn't come back until the morning time.." Audrey asked me as we stopped at Dunkin' Donuts before we headed to the doctors today.
"We got into a small fight because of something I did that I don't know if it was a mistake or not." I told her as I pulled behind a red car.
"What did you do?" She asked, looking at me as I stared at the menu, deciding if I wanted caffeine to keep me up or not. I'll probably just get a strawberry donut and that's it.
"I....um..........sort of kissed Taylor." I cleared my throat as we made it infront of the menu to order.
"You what?!" She half yelled, making me sigh and quiet her down because the man began speaking..
"Welcome to Dunkin' Donuts, what would you like today?""Uh, hi I would like two strawberry glazed donuts and uh...." I stopped talking and looked at Audrey.
"A medium sized caramel latte with xtra cream." She said, making me squint my eyes at her. Since when does she drink that?
"And a medium sized caramel latte with xtra cream." I repeated her request, looking at her again because of her unique order."Okay, is that all ma'am?"
"Yeah that's it."
"Alright that'll be $9.23."We pulled to the first window and on the corner of my eyes I kept seeing Audrey glare.
"What?" I shrugged as I looked at her. Although I knew why she was staring at me, I tried to avoid it. "You know why I'm staring at you, Leah. How could you kiss her?! She might be starting to be a good person now but that doesn't change anything. She's done terrible things to you and me and as a reward for her actions you exchange saliva with her?" She began to raise her voice at me.I snapped my head at her.
"First off, we didn't share saliva. Both of them were quick ones."
"Both?!" She repeated, making me sigh in frustration as I just ratted myself out for the second time in under 24 hours.
"Okay....we kissed twice....the first one was her and the second was me......""Oh my god, you have got me kidding me right now." She mumbled under her breath while looking out the window, shaking her head in disappointment.
I was about to say something else when I saw someone coming towards the window inside the restaurant.
"$9.23?" He looked at me as I dug into my purse and grabbed a ten dollar bill out before I handed it to him. Audrey was still staring out of the window in her thoughts..."And here's your change, I'll be back with your order." He announced and gave me a smile before closing the window and disappearing.
"When I saw that tattoo of your name on her arm..........I-I started to look at her differently than before. My attitude didn't fully change towards her but I knew my heart softened after I realized how much she cares about you. But what I don't get is how can you just forget that she's danger to us still."
"I haven't forgotten, Audrey. Okay? I know and I'm full aware what she's done. But thats in the past now, we can't keep living off the past anymore, it's useless." I tried making my point across as the man came back with the bag, handing it to me.
"Thanks, have a nice day." I gave him a smile before I pulled off into the street. When I turned the corner, I let Siri direct me to the place where we was headed to and the silence kicked in after I sat my phone down between us. Audrey took the bag and ate her donut and sipped her latte for a good few minutes.
"Look, I know that you're mad but I just want you to know that it wasn't my intention to kiss her. With everything going on, my heads going every freaking where and I can't seem to focus for nothing. I can't sleep either and if I do it's for a good hour before I wake back up. I have too much I'm worrying about and there's absolutely no break for me. I'm fucking up my life right now at this moment and I just need time to pause for one minute.....This is getting too stressful for me and I-I just can't take it anymore, Audrey. I-I'm falling apart and I don't know how long I can keep doing this running around, searching for answers, making sure you and Lexi are safe and nothing's going wrong. It's killing me and I'm sick of it! I-I want this to be over!"I was suddenly......crying..Not in happy tears, they were real tears.......I've never cried this hard before in my life up until now....
I hadn't noticed that we were pulled on the side of the road until I loosen my grip on the steering wheel.....My head was still forward and there was nothing but tears running wild down my cheeks.
"Leah....." I felt a warm hand touch mines and I turned my head slowly to look at Audrey..."I-I'm sorry...." Her voice softened.
"No. Don't apologize. None of this is your fault." I sniffed, and wiped my face with my sleeves after calming down a little.
"There's no one to blame but our parents. They got us into this mess............and they're gonna help get us out....." I whispered, keeping my eyes on the road as I continued to drive again."Are you sure they can? According to them I don't think they can help us right now-"
"That's what they want us to believe. I'm not saying that they won't but I'm really saying is that they're too frightened to have us kidnapped again or whatever so they're keeping their distance so whoever's after them won't find us but I think it's time everyone ups their game.....even Lexi................I'm gonna have to teach her how to fight." I nodded my head as we pulled into the building's parking lot."I want this to be over. And if no ones stepping up? Then I guess I have to......." I paused, as we both looked each other as I put the car into park mode...."And you're gonna help me....."
"Starting now..."
