Chapter 23

You entered the village, it was a calm and nice one. You can notice the strange looks people have been giving the two men accompanying you, maybe because of their unusual cloaks. It was the afternoon, people were just walking around minding their own business or heading back to their houses after a long day of work.

"That one seems nice", Itachi said, stopping in front of a small restaurant, you nodded as your stomach growled once the smell of food reached your nose, causing your cheeks to turn an adorable shade of pink, after all, you haven't eaten anything since you left your village, and healing Deidara consumed a big part of your energy, you were starving.

The three of you took a table in the farthest corner of the place, you sat beside the window next to Itachi while Kisame sat across from the two of you facing his partner. 

You have been eating your noodles silently as the two men ate their food as well. The restaurant had such a calming atmosphere, at least you could have some rest and restore your energy before continuing your path.

"Would you like to have some tea?", you looked at Itachi, as he asked you once you finished eating and replied to his question with a yes and a nod. "Alright then, I'll be back", he said, getting up and heading toward the counter to make his order. You watched him as he stood there talking to the waitress, it's still hard for you to believe what you've heard about him, even though lady Noriko had confirmed it to you, he is just too calm and peaceful to do such a thing...a new question popped now in your head, if he really did it, then...why? What could have pushed someone like him to do that? It must be something so strong...

"[name]? You have been looking at Itachi for a while, I wonder why?", you looked at Kisame hearing his voice, to find him looking at you with a big smirk. Your cheeks blushed slightly, what does he mean by this question? And by that smirk?
"I-I am just looking around...", you said as you took one last look at the counter seeing Itachi still talking with that waitress, who seemed like she was trying to make the conversation  take longer and maybe flirt with him. You can't blame her, he is very good looking indeed, and she is clueless who he is, but...why this is giving you a disappointing feeling? Are you jealous already?!
"[name], looks can be deceiving, and I'm sure you know what I mean", the blue skinned man said with his smirk still on his face, you slightly frowned and looked away out of the window, ugh! why is Itachi taking long!

You were just about to turn and look again at him, but he was already back pulling his chair to sit down. "It will be ready in few minutes", Itachi said, you nodded looking again at Kisame, to see him grinning at you while you just looked down in your lap at your hands, and of course Itachi noticed the exchange of looks between you two.
"Something's wrong?", Itachi asked looking at you then at his partner who just shrugged then said:"not really, we were just talking about how looks can be deceiving sometimes, Itachi". Itachi just sighed, closing his eyes for a brief moment then opening them again and said:"no need for philosophy now, Kisame, we are here to rest, focus on our goal". 

This moment has been soon interrupted by the waiter as he brought tea and some sweets for the three of you, and of course, Itachi didn't waist a moment to dig in starting with the dango. You took your cup of tea and started sipping the green warm liquid, sighed in content feeling yourself getting relaxed, yet thinking of this situation...in this village with two strangers, very dangerous ones...

You were about to leave the place after spending some time there, the waiter brought the bill for you, and there was a little surprise waiting for you.
"Your meal Miss has been already paid", the waiter said with a genlte smile as your eyes widened in surprise, who would do this? You don't even know anyone here.
"No please, I will pay for my meal, please give me the bill", you apologized, looking around noticing a handsome young man with medium straight black hair and green eyes looking at you with a smile as he was sitting with his friends, he soon rised his hand waving at you when your eyes met his, who is he?
"Sorry, he insisted that he takes the charges-", the waiter seemed to be still about to add something when suddenly, Itachi stood up and started walking directly to the young man who just waved to you.

Their table was distant from yours, and the place being crowded with people talking and chatting, you couldn't really hear what they were saying. Itachi was talking with that guy, who seemed to be urging with the Uchiha, and from the look on their faces, you can say it wasn't a friendly talk.
You gasped and flinched standing up as Itachi took out the money and slammed it on the table causing the crowd of people to gasp all at once, then became silent, with just some whispers that can be heard, as they all turned around looking at the two young men.

With that Itachi left him then and started walking back to you and Kisame, looking totally calm and reserved, not seeming angry at all. "Kisame, get us some food for later. You, [name], come, let's go", he said, or rather ordered the two of you as he seemed to be in a hurry to leave the place, his mood has been significantly troubled.

"Sure, you go then I'll follow the two of you", Kisame said standing up and heading to the counter to order some more food without asking more questions, while you just looked at Itachi, wondering what happened.
"What's wrong?!", you asked him, he didn't say anything, instead he grabbed your wrist and started walking to the exit without saying a word. Once being outside, he let go of your hand then turned to you and said:"nothing happened, we are done there, we need to keep walking"
"No, that's not what I meant"
"Then?"
"what happened with that guy?", you can see it clearly on his face that he didn't like this question.
"We have no time for nonsense and childishness, and that, was a big nonsense coming from him", you just looked at him blinking in confusion, and before you can say anything else, Kisame joined the two of you with the food and that smirk back on his face. It's really amusing and unusual to see his Uchiha partner lose his temper and show some kind of emotions, especially when it's not about battles and fights.

"Let's go"
