Chapter 29

A wind was blowing as the three of you finally made it out of the gloomy forest. You found yourself standing on the edge of a high cliff that overlooks a deep river at the bottom of the valley, if something would fall over there, it would surely be crushed into tiny pieces.
A rope bridge was joining the two sides of land, yet, it looked so risky to walk over it.
"Shall we go?", you looked at Kisame hearing his voice, seeing him already walking ahead making his way to the other side.
"Wait! You might fall!", you called out as he just kept walking forward while the wind kept blowing more, swaying that rope bridge from side to side.

"[name], are you worried over Kisame?", Itachi asked you calmly, looking at his partner then back at you.
"Well I should be! What if he falls?!", you replied with a small frown, while Kisame went even more further ahead on his way to the other side.
"He will not fall, he is strong, [name]. Things like these are just child's play to him, how about you [name]? Are you gonna cross it?", he said as he started walking toward the bridge as well, while the wind played with his cloak and hair.
"I don't know...I will try...", you said tightening your hold on your satchel and basket, hoping the wind would calm down for a while or at least doesn't lift your kimono up.
"Well you should start soon, it's already past noon, and we need to hurry, Kisame is almost on the other side", Itachi said still standing near the bridge waiting for you.
"At this altitude and with this wind...I'm not sure I can...", you muttered, gulping as you walked towards the bridge as well.
"You go ahead, I will be right after you in case something happened", he said mentioning for you to start walking.
"Okay..", you muttered with a sigh tightening your grip on the ropes as you took a first step on the wooden bridge. Itachi was watching you, he noticed that you haven't used chakra control at your feet to keep your balance...have you only learnt how to use chakra for healing?

Itachi was walking behind you just as he told you. You were holding on the ropes keeping your balance as you moved slowly while the wind kept moving the bridge gently, despite you trying hard not to look down, you did.

 You started to feel dizzy from the high altitude and from the look of the water flowing underneath you. You gulped, trying to focus on the path ahead of you when a strong wind had blown suddenly, making the bridge move from side to side and shake violently.
The fear was terrible, you closed your eyes tightly as a scream of fear left your lips, you unintentionally let go of your basket as your legs felt weak and heavy to move any further.

You opened your eyes at the feel of someone holding you firmly while the wind kept blowing more. Itachi wrapped one arm around your waist while holding on the rope with his other hand and catching your basket with his foot preventing it from falling to the river.
The bridge was still moving because of the strong wind, but Itachi seemed to control the situation fully. You didn't feel as afraid as before, you knew he wasn't gonna let you fall, you closed your eyes again holding on the ropes tightly waiting for the wind to stop.

The strong wind had finally calmed down after a while and the bridge stopped moving. Just a little more time, Kisame has already reached the other side while the two of you were still at the start of the bridge.
"If we keep moving at this pace we will take pretty long", Itachi said as you nodded slowly letting out a sigh, what can you do?
"Hold this", he said giving you your basket as you took it from him, "thank you Itachi for-Hey!!! what are you doing??!!", before you could even finish thanking him, you found yourself lifted up in his arms.
"Just hold on me", he said looking down at your face, you're blushing.
"Put me down!"
"No, just do as I told you, we will be there in no time"
You gave in, you let the basket slide over your arm, your wrapped your arms around his torso and hiding your face in his chest and closing your eyes.

"Don't try to look down again...", he said calmly, looking at you briefly as you nodded. He then looked up ahead, and started running quickly over the bridge crossing it in an instant, keeping a perfect balance while the wind kept blowing calmly.
You were closing your eyes tight with you heart beating fast, hoping that the two of you arrive safely to the other side.

"Alright, we are there", you opened your eyes at his voice as you were already on the other side, he gently put you down on your feet as Kisame stood up next to you, he was so fast...
"T-thank you", you said while Itachi just nodded. Kisame eyed his partner suspiciously...'could it be that Itachi Uchiha is really...', the blue skinned man was thinking while the three of you resumed walking through a path in this new forest.
The three of you walked all the way following the path indicated on your book, finally arriving to your destination.

"It's supposed to be here!", you said in confusion, looking at the emply place around you, then back at your book where the tree is clearly illustrated in the location you're in.
The place was just a dead end, surrounded by boulders and rocks, looking up you couldn't see anything as it was blocked by a mountain or a high hill, you couldn't really tell.
"Are you sure?", Itachi said walking around and looking at his surroundings, noticing that it's already evening, and the sun will soon set.
"Yes I'm sure, but...why can't we find it?", you wondered putting the book back in your bag.
"Maybe it died or maybe that map is mistaken", Kisame said, standing still and watching his partner exploring the area around.
"Or...maybe it's hidden", Itachi said examining the boulders around then standing in front of one of them. You raised your brows at this, why didn't you think of it? Of course...

Itachi knocked gently on a boulder using the ring on his finger and listening to the sound it makes.
"Kisame, you and [name] get back, I'm going to use some explosives", Itachi said taking some papers out of his cloak as you headed back with Kisame, staying at a safe distance.
Itachi placed the paper bombs  all over the boulder then joined the two of you quickly, not long after there were some big explosions as the boulder has been turned into dust and small rocks, revealing a hidden entrance behind it.
