It was after a while when Itachi got back to the room, to find you still sitting on the bed waiting, with puffed eyes, apparently you were crying.
"What happened?", you asked with a hoarse voice, not sure whether he had calmed down or not yet.
"I had to make Hidan understand that he, or anyone else here can't lay a finger on you! I brought here so you are my responsibility!", he said, bending down and picking up the apron and the pan he had thrown previously.
"You are still mad at me?", you asked with a faint voice as he was about to head out again, apparently going to the kitchen to put the things back there.
"Not mad, that's not the precise word to describe it, but disappointed", he said, exiting the room and closing the door behind while you sighed, he was supposed to comfort you not add more pressure on you...

He got back, not too long after, and from the look on his face, you knew there is another lecture for you on the way.
"Listen [name], from here on I will change the way we are training, it seems it didn't pay off, enimeies won't say to you: hello can we exchange some punches, please? No!! They will attack suddenly just as Hidan did! And also like that guy on your way to the leaf did, although at that time it was more acceptable since you haven't trained yet", he said, as he sat on the chair, leg over the other and passed his hand through his silky hair, letting out a sharp sigh.
"Yes I know! But it wasn't my fault! You are escalating, I didn't even ask to come here in the first place!", you said, you can't take more blames from him.
"You are here and it's over! You have to deal with it! I told you that you need to be careful and learn to protect yourself! That's why we are training! If you weren't zooning out during practice, your power would have been more sculptured! And you would have been more watchful and attentive to be caught off guard so easily!!", he said, with a frown on his face, is he blaming you for that? Did he forget how sensitive and soft you are? His promises that he'd be by your side and help you in a gentle way...
"It would have been worst if someone else took the mission to bring you or train you, [name]! you don't have time to cry-", he carried on, until you couldn't handle it anymore and stopped him.
"Enough!! I know!! Stop making me feel like I'm a burden!!", you snapped out, looking at him with an upset look, clutching your hands into fists.
"You should have snapped at Hidan not me!! Instead of just standing there helpless at his mercy waiting for someone to rescue you!", he said sharply, surprising you even more, Itachi showed you his cold and emotionless side when he was on his mission to get you, and even some other times, but this side? The angry and mad side? The offensive side? That's your first time seeing it...
"Itachi, I tried to stop him but he was stronger than me! I just started training a while ago while he has been the way he is for so long! What would you expect?!", you said, defending yourself.
"That's no excuse! I expected to see the result of our work! At least a try to push him awya! That was a first test for you [name], but you showed nothing other than weakness, fragility and vulnerability!", he said in reply to what you said, while you just looked at him, shocked...
"Well...you don't have to blame yourself for it, it was all my mistake, you don't have to protect me or anything or carry the burden to keep me safe or anything...I'm leaving", you stood up, not crying anymore, as you wiped the remainings of your tears away, you didn't know where to go, but all that mattered to you at the moment to is to leave this intoxicating place, to get away from him...
"Where?! You still don't understand what had just happened do you?!", he said getting up and following you, catching your wrist before you could open the door.
"I said, you don't have to protect me or worry about me Itachi, let go of my hand!!", you said with an angry look on your face, but he can see it, you're just hiding all those emotions and trying to look strong in front of him...after all...he was so cruel with you.

"I'm sorry...", he said calmly with a heavy sigh, as he closed his eyes for a while then looked at you, he knows you didn't cry because of Hidan but because of what he said to you, so many sharp words, while he was supposed to gently calm you down and help you pass this situation and become stronger, to tell what you should do in similar situations, and most importantly, keep his promise and support you..he can't do the same mistake he did with Sasuke, he can't make you stronger by hating him...
You didn't say anything, but tried to free your wrist from his grip, and at a point you even tried to push him away, but suddenly he pulled to his chest, hugging you tight despite your tries to push him away as strong as you can.
"[name], forgive my foolishness and over-jealousy...", he whispered softly, pushing you backwards against the door and hiding his face in your neck, while keeping his strong arms around you.
"Let me go", you said calmly, still pushing him away as he remained like that, refusing to let go.

"[name], I am sorry, I overreacted too much, I know, but I can't let you go, I need you", he said lifting his head up and looking in your eyes, there are no more tears in them, nor emotions...
"Yes I know, you say this and the next thing I know is you blaming me to a point that it turns into insults and mockery and harassment", you said, with your hands still on his chest pushing him away.
"We all make mistakes, and I did, [name], would you want to leave me for this?", is he trying to make it your fault now? You are the one who is cruel?
"You are pushing me to do this, I understand that you might be worried about me and about my safety, but Itachi, you need to respect me and treat me right and not hurt me with your words, I have feelings, I never said I liked what Hidan did, I even told him to leave me alone and that I'm taken, but I was taken by surpisrse, and all my moves has been blocked", you said, as he closed his eyes letting out a sigh...he looked back at you, yes, it wasn't your fault at all, he should have picked his words very carefully.
"I shouldn't have said those words, I take everything I said back, I will do something about our situation here", he said, hoping that you'd forgive his rudeness.
"I don't know Itachi, I feel that I'm lost now more than before...you keep playing with my emotions and manipulating my mind, once you're so kind and understanding, then a while later you're so cruel...I...I miss the time when we were strangers and we used to have limits between us", you said, and now it was him who has been hurt, you regret getting closer to him? Is he that bad? Is he being too extreme that it would kill your love for him? But no, he have gotten used to it, live with it, he can't just be lonely again, you saved him [name].
"[name]...do you still love me?", he asked, his hands moving up cupping your face in his hands...
"Yes, too much for you to understand...", you said, without a smile looking away from him and pushing his hands away from your face, you're very upset with him...
"[name]?..."

There, out on the other side of the door, Kisame stood with a bag of snacks for you and Itachi, as he got it on his way back after heading back from a village where he has been taking a rest knowing that you'd be exhausted from training, he didn't want to hear your talk on purpose, but he just stopped at the door as he was about to knock on it since he didn't want to interrupt the two of you, he chuckled silently while rubbing his chin as he heard the conversation between you and Itachi, it looks like his partner is passing through a hard time...hehehe.
