"Ready?"

I nodded, and he brought his wrist to my lips. I held his hand with one of mine and his arm with the other. I expected his blood to be warm but I should have known better.

I tasted the copper tang on my tongue before I suctioned my lips against his wrist. Okay, I was really doing this. I felt his large hand on my neck, his rings pressing into my skin.

I gagged when the first little bit of blood hit the back of my throat and jerked away. Colby's arms went around me in a flash.

"Are you okay?" He asked, worry all in his voice.

I nodded, wiping my mouth with the back of my hand.

It came away smeared with his black blood.

"Do you want to try again?"

It wasn't the taste that bothered me so much as the idea.

The knowledge that it was actual blood, and not even regular blood, but black vampire blood going down my throat and into my stomach...well, the idea wasn't sitting very well.

"Imagine it's something else, if that helps. I know it's not something that you're going to actually like, considering you're human. Hell, vampires don't even like the taste of other vampire blood so I can't blame you. Just pretend it's a shot and you have to just get the nasty part out of the way. Okay?"

I met his concerned blue gaze and honestly, wouldn't have been able to say no, even if I wanted to. I placed my lips back around the puncture holes in his wrist, squeezing my eyes shut. I did it fast, like it was a shot, sucking it down, gulp after gulp.

It actually wasn't bad. Maybe I'm just weird. I opened my eyes, and found Colby staring at me intensely, his blue eyes burning into mine.

The look of love and adoration staring back at me, almost had me gasping for breath. I kept my eyes locked on his as I pulled his arm away from my mouth. I licked my lips, catching the excess blood, and watching Colby's eyes dart down and follow the movement of my tongue.

I think he liked watching me drink his blood. His eyes darted back up to mine, and I swear the look in them made me want to jump in his lap right then. Interesting.

I gasped because he disappeared for a second, then was back on the bed, holding a paper towel to his arm.

"Don't you heal?" I asked, still tasting him in the back of my throat.

He nodded.

"Yeah, but it takes a couple of minutes. Don't want it dripping everywhere."

He scooted closer to me, and leaned his head down to kiss me.

When he pulled back, he nudged his nose against mine, then lay his forehead against my own.

"So...how was it? How do you feel?"

I contemplated that before answering. "It wasn't bad. You taste pretty good actually, after I got past the whole blood thing."

He grinned and leaned back. "Yeah, you taste pretty good too."

I rolled my eyes at him and blushed. "Don't start Brock."

He chuckled. "So how do you feel? Do you want to take your bandages off? It won't heal you immediately but you should at least see a slight difference." I nodded, reaching up to the bandage on my neck, but his hand caught mine. "Let me."

His fingers caressed my neck, pulling the bandage gently. I hissed, feeling the pinch of the bandage pulling my skin.

"Sorry," he replied.

I tilted my head a little more and slightly shrugged.

"It's gonna happen. Just rip it off. Like a bandaid."

He shook his head, a look of intense concentration on his face as he continued to gently pull at the bandage. "You still didn't tell me how you feel," he stated, as he pulled off the last little bit.

"Oh...I don't know."

Did I feel any different?

Yeah, I did. My body was starting to buzz with all kinds of energy, slowly, like it was creeping up on me. I flexed my fingers, noticing that I didn't feel any pain in my wrists when I did it.

"I think I feel great. Or I'm starting to." I smiled slowly, looking back at him. "Yeah, it's slow like I've been drinking a few Bang energy drinks and they're starting to kick in. My body isn't throbbing anymore, I don't think. I'll have to let you know on that when you let me stand up and check it out."

He laughed. "Go ahead. Your neck is already less red, the swelling is receding. The wounds will start closing soon. I'm sure the other bites are doing the same."

He stood up, holding his hand out to me. I took it, and stood slowly, taking note of how my body felt moving. There was no pain.

Before, I was sore and tender with almost every step. Now there was nothing. Nothing except this current that was flowing through my veins.

I moved my arms above my head, arching my back out, stretching every muscle I had.

"I feel amazing. Like I could run a marathon or something. Wow!" I grinned stupidly, feeling a little high. "Am I supposed to sleep now? Cuz Kat and Devyn slept after they drank."

He smiled and shook his head, watching me with tender eyes. "No, you don't have to. They only slept because of the ordeal that they had been through. You've already slept so your body has already started recuperating. Do you want to sleep?"

I shook my head. "God no. I'm trying to figure out how they managed to sleep after drinking that." I ran my hands up my neck, clasping the back of it. "I'm so charged up and it just keeps getting stronger." My hands were actually trembling with the energy coursing through me. "I feel like I drank way too many energy drinks and my body doesn't know what to do with the excess...but without the anxiety. Instead, I just want to..." I trailed off, unable to think of what I wanted to do.

I needed to do something though. I couldn't just stand here. He touched his tongue to his top teeth, before biting down, letting it peep out of his mouth.
