The Life Changing Vacation

~Chapter 22~

I woke up around 4:15 am. I went downstairs to drink water and then I went back to bed. But I couldn't sleep. I were thinking about how good relationship I've gotten with Alex and Joanna. I'm starting to feel that this is my home. I were thinking about it for maybe an hour, and then I finally fell asleep again. I woke up at 10 am, and then I went downstairs.

"Good morning, honey. Have you slept well?", Joanna asked when I came downstairs.

"Not so good. I woke up in the middle of the night", I explained.

"How're you feeling? Are you happier then earlier?", Alex asked.

"Yeah, I am feeling more comfortable here", I answered.

"That's good to hear", he answered and took a sip of his coffee.

"Maybe you and Dory want to go outside alone today?", Joanna asked and smiled.

I got shocked.

"Really? Do you trust us enough to let us go out?", I asked.

"It won't get better if we lock you in for the rest of your lives. We have to let go", she explained.

"We both would love that", Dory said.

"Go where ever you want to go, just be home before 11:00 pm", Joanna said.

"Thank you", we answered and went to get ready.

Joanna's POV
Suddenly I heard the door bell ring. I went to open the door, and it was two cops. I got nervous.

"Are you Mrs. Murphy?", one of the cops asked.

"I am", I answered and forced a smile.

"A few nights ago, a boy disappeared. You were the last to see him, right?", he asked.

"If you mean a boy named Lucas, then yes. He came here to eat dinner and then he went home", I explained to the police.

Then one of the cops saw his jacket in the hallway.

"This is the same jacket that he used on his profile picture on Facebook. Do you have something to tell us?", one of them asked.

"Oh, yeah. He forgot his jacket and then my daughter went to call him, but he didn't answer", I lied.

"Maybe something happened on the way home", one of the cops said.

"Yeah, maybe", I answered.

"Well, it was nice meeting you Mrs. Murphy", they said and went out of the house.

Then the girls came downstairs.

"Omg, Joanna that was close", Kristina said.

"You know we're suspected, right?", Dory said.

"Yes, and they're not gonna stop suspecting us until they've found the killer", I answered.

"What are we gonna do?", Dory asked.

"Move", Kristina joked.

"This isn't the time to joke, Kristina", I said.

"This is your fault, you know", Dory said and rolled her eyes.

"Alex is the one who killed him", Kristina answered.

"Well, you're the one who told Lucas", I explained.

"Sorry", Kristina said.

"Come on, let's go out and have fun", Dory told Kristina and smiled.

Kristina's POV
Dory and I went outside. At first we went to the store, and then we went to find a place to sit down and talk. At 7:00 pm, we went to a party. It was fun to be at the party. We went home around 10:30.

"I'm glad you came home before 11:00. Maybe now we know we can trust you", Joanna said when we came home.

We ate some supper, watched a movie and then we went to bed.
