The Life Changing Vacation

~Chapter 23~

Kristina's POV
It's the next day, and I'm a little worried. Yesterday, the police came on the door, asking Joanna about Lucas. I hope they won't find out.

"What have you done with the body?", I asked Alex.

"It's fine. The police won't find out. I burned it", Alex explained.

"Are you sure there's no evidence for the police to find?", I asked.

"I'm sure, but why do you care? I bet you want the police to find out", he said.

"Nooo, I don't want that. I love you guys", I told him.

"Do you swear?", he asked.

"I swear", I answered and walked away.

Then Joanna came to me.

"Are you okay? You seem scared and upset", she said.

"I'm just afraid the police will find out that Alex killed Lucas", I answered.

"But he killed your parents. One would think you wanted him to be arrested", Joanna said.

"But still.. If he hadn't killed my parents then I wouldn't been here. And to be honest I love being here", I explained.

"We really appreciate that. Sometimes it might look like we want to ruin your life but trust me, we really don't want that", she answered.

I didn't answer, I just smiled.

Joanna's POV
Suddenly, we could hear the door bell ring. I went to open the door. The police came back.

"Mrs Murphy, we need to search your house", one of the cops said.

I felt calm, because I knew there was no evidence. Sadly, I was wrong. One of the cops found a blood drop on the table where Alex shot Lucas.

"Can you explain what this is?", one of the cops demanded.

"Ohh, my husband accidentally cut himself while he were eating", I lied.

"Can you tell me why the boy's car is parked outside of your house?", he asked.

"I-I don't know", I answered nervously.

"I feel that you know", he said.

"Are you blaming me for something?", I asked angrily.

"Mrs Murphy, you're under arrest for the murder", one of them said.

"You don't have any proof saying that I did it", I explained.

"Actually, she didn't do it! Her husband did it in self defense", Kristina lied.

"Why didn't you just say that in the first place?", they asked.

"Because we were afraid you wouldn't believe us", Kristina explained.

"Okay. He will be fine, for now. But the case isn't finished until we know for sure", he said.

The police left, and then we went to eat dinner.
