Chapter 51

In panic, Ben looks around the room. Where is he? Why is his vision so blurry?
After a few deep breaths, his vision gets a little better. Only then he notices that someone is holding his hand. Somewhere in the distance he hears a voice.

'Ben? Thank god you are awake.'

He doesn't recognize the voice, but it somehow reassures him. At least he's not alone.
When his vision has returned to normal, he sees two people sitting around him. One has reddish hair and is holding his hand. The other has black hair and looks at him with a smile.
Ben tries to open his mouth and speak, but he can't get any sound out of his mouth. Maybe he can sit up. He tries, but immediately a shot of pain passes through his body. He lets out a groan, waiting for the pain to fade. He closes his eyes, hearing his own heartbeat thud in his ears. His hearing is clouded, and he has to do his best not cry.

'Don't worry honey, we're with you. Just keep laying down. It's gonna be okay.'

Honey? Why did the ginger call him honey? Ben looks at the ginger in confusion. 
'Would you like some water, Ben?' The other asks.
As soon as he hears what the black-haired young man is asking him, he panics. Did he end up in America? Why are these boys both speaking with an American accent?
Then Ben remembers what he was just asked. Water? He tries to nod. Fortunately, the two understand him. 
Not much later he tries to speak again. 'W-where am I?' He asks softly.
The two young men look at each other for a second.
'You are in the hospital Ben.' The black-haired boy says.
Immediately panic strikes Ben again. In the hospital? Why? And why are these two young men sitting next to his bed? Does he know them?
Apparently the panic is radiating from his face, because the ginger gives him a concerned look. 'Ben, do you know who we are?' He asks.
"Who you are? No, not exactly." Ben thinks to himself. He manages to say a soft no.
'Joe, why don't you go look for the nurse to say Ben is awake?' The black-haired says to the ginger, who is apparently called Joe.
The ginger boy nods and gets up.
So now it's just him and the black-haired.
'Please tell me your name.' The blond whispers after a while.
'It's Rami. I am one of your best friends.' Rami says with a smile.
'A- Am I in America?' Now that he can talk again, Ben has so many questions to ask. 'And why does my body hurt so badly.'
Rami shakes his head. 'Don't worry, we are still in the UK. And you are in such pain because you were in an accident.' He says reassuringly. He thinks better not to mention Corey's name just yet.
Before Ben can respond, the nurse comes in, followed by Joe. Without saying a word, she walks over to the IV he is attached to and replaces the bag of liquid for another. 'Hi Ben, how are you feeling?' She asks after that.
'Terrible.' Ben mumbles.
'I get that. I have given you a strong medicine that will reduce the pain. But no matter how good you feel, you should stay in bed.' She says with a stern look.
Ben nods.
Then the nurse turns to Joe and Rami. 'He will be a little loopy for the first hour due to the strong medicine we gave him. If he still hasn't got his memory back after an hour or two, I ask you to call Dr. Smith. He can have a drink, but he is not allowed to eat anything until five this afternoon. If there is anything you can push the red button. Then I or one of my colleagues will come here as soon as possible.' She says kindly.
Joe and Rami nod. 'Thank you very much.' Joe says. 

Not long after the nurse left the room, Ben started acting like a small child. Joe and Rami had their hands full with it.
After a while, Joe gets up. 'Shit, I promised to call his dad.' He says. Because of all the tension and stress of today, he has completely forgotten about that. 'Can you handle him alone for a while?' He asks Rami with a grin.
His friend nods.
As soon as Joe is out of the room, Ben asks in a whiny voice: 'Ramiii, can you put on some music? I'm bored.' He says, some of his words sounding a bit slurred.
Rami nods, and gets up to turn on the radio when the door opens. He doesn't look who it is, assuming it's Joe. 'Well, that was a quick call.' He says.
'What call?' As soon as he hears this voice, which definitely doesn't belong to Joe, Rami turns around. 'Brian? What are you doing here?' He asks in surprise.
Brian is about to say something when he is interrupted by Ben. 'Wow my doctor has a bunch of curls.' He says with a giggle.
Making Rami and Brian laugh.
'Do you like them?' Brian asks with a smirk on his face.
Ben nods with a happy face. 
Brian smiles at Rami. 'The meds are working, I see?'
Rami nods with a chuckle. 
'Anyways, Joe called me in a slight panic. He said that Ben doesn't remember you guys. When I heard that, I thought maybe you could use some support. Especially Joe.' Brian explains. He looks around the room. 'Where is Gwilym?' He asks in confusion.
Rami's happy gaze immediately gives way to a frown. 'If we only knew that.' He mutters irritated.
Brian is about to ask something when Joe walks back into the room.
'Yay! Captain America is back!' Ben cheers.
Rami immediately laughs when he sees Joe's surprised face.
Brian can't hold back his laugh either.
'Hey uhm, you? Black-haired boy? Come here. I want to ask you something.' Ben says with a mischievous smile, pointing at Rami.
Rami laughs, and walks over to the bed.
Amazed, Joe and Brian watch Ben whisper something in Rami's ear.
As soon as Ben has finished, Rami starts to smirk.
