Chapter 61

'Your parents are really lovely.' Ben says with a big smile. 
The two plop down on the bed, and cuddle up against each other.
Joe smiles. 'I'm glad you think so baby.' He brushes some hair from Ben's face and presses his lips against his.
'It's only five o'clock, what shall we do?' Ben asks before resting his head on Joe's chest.
The ginger thinks for a moment. 'How about we watch a movie and just cuddle? After that I'll get us some dinner. Something better than hospital food' He suggests.
Ben nods with a big smile. 'Sounds like the perfect evening to me, Blanket. To be honest, I'm getting quite sick of all that hospital food' He says with a giggle. 
Joe presses a sweet kiss on Ben's cheek before grabbing his laptop to look for a film.
And so they choose a film together, and settle into each other's embrace. 
Ben insisted they watch Jurassic Park because he is convinced that Joe looked very cute as a small kid. After looking at his boyfriend with his puppy eyes, he got Joe to agree. Every time little Joe appears on screen, the smile on Ben's face gets bigger. 
When the two are halfway through the movie, Ben pauses the movie. 'I'll get us a drink.' He stands up, and walks to the mini kitchen the hospital room provides.
Joe nods with a big smile. 'Thank you honey. That's sweet of you.' With a warm feeling, he settles even deeper into the blankets. Just a little while longer and then Ben can go home. He can't wait for them to move in together.
'What are you thinking of baby?' Ben asks when he returns with two glasses in his hand.
Joe smiles widely. 'About how lucky I am with you.' He says with red cheeks. 
Ben lies down next to Joe again. It feels like his heart is glowing. It feels like it has always been like this. He and Joe, side by side in bed, intertwining their fingers. 'I love you.' He mumbles, putting his head back on Joe's chest.
'I love you too Benny.' Joe whispers, gently running his hand through the boy's hair.
Then Ben suddenly pokes Joe in the side, making the ginger giggle. 'Have you been working out? You feel so muscular.' Ben asks with a grin.
Joe giggles again and nods. 'I have, actually. The nurse told me a few weeks ago that you will need help with your new exercises for when you can go home. And since you are so muscular, I thought it would be a good plan if I did some exercise too.' He explains. 
Ben didn't know it was possible, but his heart is getting even warmer inside. He gives Joe a kiss on the cheek. 'That's so sweet of you.' He whispers softly. 
Joe puts his arm around Ben and gently starts tracing figures on his shoulder with his finger.
After they both have taken a few sips of their drinks, they continue with the movie.
After a while, Joe feels Ben's muscles relax in his arms, and the boy's head getting heavier on his chest. Joe smiles when he sees Ben's closed eyes and the peaceful look on his face. 'I love you.' He whispers softly. He carefully takes his phone. He searches for the chat with Rami and starts typing.

(17:56 Pm) Joe: Hy Rami, aree you att he hotel ight now?

(17:58 Pm) Rami: I'm not sure I understood that message correctly, but if you asked if I'm at the hotel then yes ;)

(17:58 Pm) Joe: Sorry, ionly have oone hand too type. Someeone felll asleep in myarms :) Butdo you have t ime to dropp by here? I cooked for Benn and put it in plasticc boxes so I cantake it with me. But I eft them in my otel room.

(17:59 Pm) Rami: Sure! I'm on my way :)

(17:59 Pm) Joe: Thnk you! Yu're the best :)

And so not much later, Rami is at the door of the room.
'Come in.' Joe says softly.
Rami enters the room with a big smile, and that smile only grows when he sees Ben asleep in Joe's arms.
'Seems like the two of you had a nice afternoon.' He whispers with a grin.
Joe rolls his eyes with a smile.
'Here are your plastic boxes of food.' Rami says with a soft giggle as he hands Joe the boxes.
'Thank you.' Joe whispers gratefully.
Their conversation is disturbed by Ben mumbling something in his sleep, and snuggling even closer to Joe's chest. 
Joe gently runs his hand through Ben's hair, looking at his boyfriend with a smile.
Rami looks at the two with a small smile. 'You know, I'm so happy to see you like this. Together. You deserve some happiness in your life after all this hassle. You deserve each other.' 
And although he think it's sweet from his best friend to say this, Joe can't help but joke about it. 'Nahw, is our Rami getting a little sentimental?' He asks with a grin.
'Fuck you Mazzello.' Rami murmurs.
Joe giggles softly. 
Rami gets up. 'Well, I should get back to Lucy. Enjoy your dinner.' He winks at Joe and walks towards the door.
'Rami?' Joe says softly before Rami can leave the room. 
Rami turns around. 'Yeah?' He asks.
'Thank you. For everything.'

When it's half past six, Joe decides to wake Ben for dinner. 'Wake up baby. It's time for dinner.' Joe whispers.
Ben turns around and groans. 'I don't wanna get up.' He mutters, pulling the duvet over his head.
Joe laughs at that. 'You really have to eat something sweetheart. Aren't you hungry then?'
Ben sits up with a small smile, rubbing his eyes. 'I am.' He mumbles, still a bit sleepy. 
Joe gives Ben a quick kiss, and then gets up. 'I hope you feel like freshly made pasta? Well, fresh, I made it yesterday.' He smiles.
Ben nods. 'Always when you make it.' He says with a smirk. 
Joe gets up with a big smile and takes two plastic plates from the mini kitchen. 
Ben slowly walks over to the table and sits down on a chair when his phone rings. He wants to get up, but Joe is faster and hands him his phone.
'It's your father.' The ginger says with a smile. He is happy to see that Ben and his father have built a bond again after all these years.
'Thank you honey.' Ben says with a smile. 
Joe watches with a warm feeling how Ben and his father call.
But suddenly Ben's smile turns into a frown...
