Chapter 55

'It was the rose.' Ben says with a smile.
Joe lies down on the bed next to his boyfriend and rests his head on Ben's shoulder, snuggling close him.  'The rose?' He asks, letting his eyes drift towards the bouquet on the table.
Ben nods. 'This morning I was alone, and I had nothing to do. Then I saw the the withered bouquet. When I looked at the rose I suddenly remembered everything.' He explains before giving the boy cuddled up against his chest a kiss on the head. 'The rose reminded me of us. Of our relationship.' He adds.
Joe looks up, not quite understanding how a rose reminded his boyfriend of their relationship. But despite his confusion, he knows it's sweet.
Ben giggles softly when he sees Joe's confused face. 'It was the rose that was on the table on our first date. It was the rose I gave you when I asked you to be my boyfriend. And it was the rose I bought you from my dad's money just before I-.' He doesn't finish his sentence, the smile on his face is giving way to a frown. Unfortunately, his memories from that night are all back too.
Joe takes Ben's hand in his own, seeing the boy swallow. 'Baby, don't think about that. Let's focus on the good stuff for now. We'll talk about it later.' He whispers, intertwining their fingers.
Ben nods. 'Good idea. I'm just so glad I'm here with you and that I'm safe.' He says softly, pulling Joe a little closer to his chest.
'I know love. So am I.' Joe says, placing a kiss on Ben's cheeks.
Ben smiles, happy to hold Joe in his embrace again. 'What time is it, actually?' He asks. He has kinda lost track of time due to the long days in the hospital.
Joe checks his phone, and sees that it is only half past eleven.
Ben chuckles. 'Is it weird when I say I feel like I haven't slept in a month?'
Joe giggles. 'A little. But I am also quite tired. What would you say if we get some rest before visiting hour starts, hm?' He runs his hand through Ben's hair, gently pressing their lips together.
Ben smiles and nods. 'Good idea.' He says. 'By the way, I can't wait to see Gwil and Rami's faces when they find out I have my memory back.'
'We should prank them.' Joe says with a grin on his face. 
Ben smiles and gives Joe a kiss on the forehead. 'Gosh, I've missed your jokes baby.' He says softly, gently caressing Joe's cheek.
'I love you.' Joe whispers, snuggling closer into Ben's chest, inhaling the boy's scent.
'I love you too.' Ben whispers back.
The two close their eyes, and not much later they are asleep, clinging onto each other tightly.

'Psst Rami, come have a look.' Gwil whispers with a small grin.
Visitor hour has just begun, and the two friends have brought some supplies for Ben to entertain himself when he's alone.
Curiously, Rami walks to the door of the room. A smile appears on his face when he sees Ben and Joe lying next to each other.
Joe is curled up against Ben chest, his arms tightly around the blond's body.
Ben has his arm around Joe, and his nose nuzzled into the boy's ginger hair.
'Let's wake them up after we got them lunch.' Gwil suggests.
Rami nods in agreement. 'Good idea.'
Before the two leave again, Rami quickly writes the two a note, telling them they'll get them some lunch. 
Gwil and Rami quietly leave the room, closing the door behind them.

But no matter how quiet the two were trying to be, the noise of the door closing has woken Joe. With a yawn, Joe sits up a little. A warm feeling flows through his body when he sees Ben next to him. So it was not a dream. Ben really has his memory back.
The ginger looks at the clock, and is quite surprised when he sees that visitor's hour has already started. Then he sees a note on the bedside table next to him. 

Morning sleepyheads ;) 
Did you sleep well? Gwil and I went to get us lunch. We will be right back.

Joe smiles when he reads the note. He decides to wake Ben before Gwil and Rami return. He leans in, and starts to place small kisses all over Ben's chest. 
Not much later, two sleepy eyes look at him.
'Good morning baby.' Joe whispers with a smile.
Ben smiles sleepily. 'Morning Blanket.' He looks at the clock. 'Wait, it's not even morning anymore. It's a quarter to one.' He says laughing. 
Joe shrugs. 'What does time matter when I'm here with you.' He snuggles close to Ben.
'I've missed you.' Ben mumbles, staring into his boyfriend's eyes.
At that moment the door opens.
'Ah you are already awake. Good. Rami and I brought lunch.' Gwil says cheerfully. 
Joe smiles. 'That's sweet.'
When Gwil and Rami don't hear it, Ben leans in to whisper something in Joe's ear. 'Remember, I haven't got my memory back yet.' He looks at Joe with a mischievous smile.
Joe nods and giggles softly. He can't wait to see the faces of his friends.
'We didn't know what you're into, so we brought some extra sandwiches.' Rami says with a laugh. He puts the bag of sandwiches on the table.
That's when Ben sees his chance. 'Thank you uhm...- fuck I forgot your name again.' He sighs. 
Rami sits down next to the bed. 'That's okay. It's Rami.'
Ben looks down sadly.
Joe knows Ben is a good actor, but he's still amazed how well Ben plays it.

After a while of silence, Ben taps Joe with a grin, as a sign to pay attention.
Joe nods with a smile.
'So Gwil, how are Lina and the twins doing?' Ben asks with a grin.
'Oh they're doing grea-.... wait what? How?' Gwil asks surprised.
Rami doesn't understand, and looks questioningly at Gwil.
And while Joe knew what Ben was up to, he too is amazed.
'Gwil, what are you doing weird?' Rami still doesn't get it, and is annoyedly waiting for an explanation.
Gwil looks at his friend. 'Rami, when Lina and I had the ultrasound that showed we're having twins, Ben wasn't awake yet. So how do you know that? And how do you suddenly know my name?'
Ben lets Gwil rattle off for a moment, then begins his explanation. 'Okay the short version? I have my memory back. Only since this morning, but everything is back.' He briefly glances over at Joe.
The latter is staring at him dreamily.
Ben giggles softly. 'And when I was asleep I was able to hear things around me. So I heard when you and Lina came back from the ultrasound.' With a small smile, Ben watches the reaction of his friends.
Gwil and Rami are in shock for a moment, but then get up to hug him. 'I'm glad you're back man.' Gwil whispers during the hug.
'So am I.' Ben whispers back. 'What do you guys think of a movie? I'm really bored to death otherwise.' He suggests.
The others nod in agreement.
That afternoon they spend together, celebrating that they got their friend back.

Sorry I didn't upload last Wednesday, but life is just really busy right now. Online school has started, and I have so much to catch up on because of the whole surgery thing. I'm like 3 paragraphs behind on the others in my class.
