Chapter 70

Three months have passed.
Joe and Ben have shown Corey's message to the police, leaving Corey an extra year in prison.
The two went to New York together for the first time to see their future home. And after they received the keys, they could start furnishing the house.
And Ben and Joe aren't the only ones working on their new home.
Gwil and Lina have also been given the keys to the new house. And while Ben and Joe haven't finished decorating their house yet, Gwil and Lina have. Mainly because Lina is almost 38 weeks pregnant, but also because the two just couldn't wait any longer to move in together.
Two days ago the last of Ben's stuff came over from London.
Joe's stuff had already been transferred from his house to their house.

It's now a quarter past twelve, and Ben is sitting on the couch waiting for Joe to get home.
He prepared lunch especially for the two of them, to celebrate their new house. He feels his heart leap for joy when he hears the sound of keys in the lock.
'Benny, I'm home!' Joe's voice fills the house.
Ben gets up with a big smile and walks over to him. 'Hey Blanket, welcome home.'
Before Joe can speak, their lips are reunited. Without hesitation, Joe melts into the kiss. 'Well, I like the sound of that.' He says with a smile when they pull away.
Ben grins and pulls Joe into the kitchen by his arm. 
The latter's mouth falls open when he sees the set dining table.
'Will you have lunch with me, my dear kidnapper?' Ben asks with a grin.
Joe giggles softly when Ben says this. 'I would love nothing more Benny.' 

Halfway through their lunch, Ben's phone rings.
'Shouldn't you answer?' Joe asks when Ben doesn't respond to the sound of his ringtone.
Ben blinks a few times, and snaps back to reality. 'Sorry I didn't hear. I was too busy admiring you.' He says with a grin.
Joe blushes and giggles softly.
Ben checks his phone to see who is calling him. 'It's the police station.'
Joe's eyes widen, and he takes Ben's hand. 
The latter takes a deep breath and answers the phone.'Hello? Yes this is Benjamin Hardy.'
Silence.
'I see. So what does that mean for us?'
It remains silent again. 
'Really? Thank you. Thank you very much.' Ben ends the call with a smile.
When he puts his phone away, he chuckles at how curious Joe looks at him.
Joe gives his boyfriend a questioning look.
'The police station called to say we're not the only ones being harassed by Corey. They have observed him and have concluded that he is a sociopath. Which means that he isn't allowed to have contact with the outside world for the next few years. So that means no more messages, and he can't order anyone to harm us. He can't bother us anymore.' Ben says with a huge smile.
Pleasantly surprised, Joe jumps up from his chair. 'Really? But that's great news baby!' He flies into Ben's arms with a big smile.
Ben pulls him close and inhales his scent. When the two let go, Ben brushes some small hairs from Joe's face. 'We don't have to worry anymore sweetheart.' 
With a grin, Joe puts his hands around Ben's waist and pulls him close to him. Soon their lips are locked together again. 
Unfortunately, their moment together is disrupted by a phone ringing.
This time it's Joe's phone.
'Looks like we're popular today.' Ben says with a grin.
'Well I can get that.' Joe says with a grin, staring at Ben.
Ben rolls his eyes with a smile and gives him a playful nudge. 'Stop staring and answer your phone.'
Joe giggles and nods.

'Hey Gwil, what's up?'
'Oh my god, really?'
'Yes of course!'
'Yes we're on our way.'
'Keep us updated.'
'We'll see you there. Bye!' 

With a big smile, Joe turns to Ben. 'Lina's water broke. She went into labor. They are now in the hospital here in New York.'
Ben's eyes widen. 'Really?' Is all he can say.
Joe nods happily.
'W- well let's go then. I'll get the presents.' Ben says. A while ago, when the two were at the mall for decorations for their home, they decided to buy presents for the twins as well. 

And so they are not much later in the car on their way to the hospital.
'Fuck, we're in a traffic jam. This will take a while. Any updates from Gwil?' Ben asks, who is behind the wheel.
Joe checks his phone and nods. 'Yeah, Lina is now 9 centimeters dilated so it won't be long from now.' 

An hour and a half later, they are finally out of the traffic jam, and it will only be ten minutes before they arrive at the hospital. 
When they arrive at the hospital, they are led to the correct room by a nurse. 
The two notice that it is remarkably quiet on the other side of the door.
Ben knocks softly on the door, and he and Joe enter the room. Immediately a smile appears on their faces when they see Gwil and Lina.
Lina is in bed, and Gwil is sitting next to the bed in a chair, each holding a newborn girl.
The two quietly walk towards the bed. 'Oh my God. They are here already?' Joe whispers in awe.
Gwil nods happily, and so does Lina. 'It all went so very fast.' She whispers.
'Guys, they are truly beautiful.' Ben says while admiring the two girls.
'They really are, right? It's not just me?' Lina asks softly.
Joe smiles and shakes his head. 'No it's not just you. They really are beautiful. So, do these two cuties have names yet?'
Gwil chuckles and nods. 'This is Lexi, and that's Tess.' He says proudly.
'Those are beautiful names. But how do you keep them apart? They are literally identical.' Ben says softly in amazement. 
Lina giggles, and moves the cloth Tess is wrapped in aside, to reveal her tiny feet. 'The nurse has put a "T" on Tess' foot. At their next check up, we give them both different clothes, which makes it a bit easier.' 
Joe giggles at that.

'Do you want to hold them?' Gwil asks.
Joe and Ben look at each other. 'Uhm yeah, but are you sure?' Joe asks a little insecure.
Lina nods. 'You can do that Joe, don't worry.' She chuckles.
Joe smiles nervously and nods.
Gently, Lina hands over Tess to him, and so does Gwilym with Lexi to Ben.
The two boys sit in a chair, each holding a little one in their arms.
'So how are they doing? And how are you doing?' Ben asks Lina while looking at the sleeping Lexi in his arms.
The girl smiles proudly. 'They are doing great. They both drink well, and their height and weight is just as it should be.' She says as she takes Gwil's hand in her own.
They are interrupted by Tess who starts to cry in Joe's arms. A little startled, the ginger hands her back to Lina.
Gwil chuckles softly at his friend's face. 

Then there is a soft knock on the door.
'That will be Rami and Lucy, I'll let them in.' Joe gets up and walks to the door. But when he opens the door, he sees only Lucy standing there. 'Hey Luce, ready to see the two cutest little girls in the world?' He asks cheerfully.
Lucy puts on a small smile and nods.
'Lucy, are you okay?' Joe asks when he notices something is wrong. For a moment he looks back to see if the others don't hear them.
She nods. 'Yeah sure, why wouldn't I be?'
Joe raises his eyebrow. 'Well because I can see you've been crying and you haven't even seen the twins yet.'
Lucy sighs. 'Well, Rami and I got into a fight yesterday. But I don't want to think about that right now. Show me those two cuties.'
Before Joe can say anything else, she walks past him to Lina's bed.

A smile appears on Joe's face when he sees Ben still with Lexi in his arms. He feels his heart glow. "Gosh, Ben would be such a good father." He thinks to himself. 

The rest of that afternoon consisted mainly of catching up, and just enjoying the two little miracles that had made their entrance into the world today.
